We have a Rat Terrier. She came with the name of Freckles from the breeder. Im not a little dog person....and I dont like cutesy names. I get SO embarrassed when people ask what her name is. Dh wanted a small dog and I agreed, and I have fallen in love with this breed. I have to come up with a name for her UKC registration. Her dad is Little Bear, her mom is Dream Dancer. I dont have a recent photo of her. She might reach 7lbs at adult weight....she is white with black splotches and ticking that is black and chocolate...her ears are erect and her face is brown and black with a white stripe down the middle. She is a gorgeous pup, just perfect for the breed its unbelievable! I just cant come up with a good name for her.

We have 'people' names for our furry kids, no spot or rex for us.
(a lady at the pet store had a small dog named.... "precious", that is a little too precious for me)

I may be back with more suggestions if I think of it.

I thought of some more:
Although, I really like your ideas, Especially Iona.

I dont mind people names. Our last dog was a Weimaraner named Zelda, which incidentally means grey haired warrior maiden....she had dog aggression issues, so it REALLY fit. We also had Jack, and my dad had a poodle that dh named Hamlet. Im just so stuck on this one. For the registry names I thought of Ursala's Dream, and Iona's Celtic Dream and call her Iona, I am fascinated by that island...and her ticking is called Irish ticking. Dh's only suggestion was Pickles and Ice Cream, because he says she looks like cookies and cream ice cream :LOL

I have no advice, sorry. It's very difficult for me to name my animals.

But I did want to say that Rat Terriers are definitley not cutsie dogs, no matter how small they are. They're very sweet & great dogs, but they're definitely big dogs that have been tossed in the dryer a few thousand times.

She is still Freckles. Today I thought of Rain Dancer as she was dancing in the grass trying to avoid the rain drops. Her sires name of Little Bear seems Native American to me, and her mom is Dancer....so I guess that would work ok. Still havent run it by dh. She is such a goofy little dog that Freckles somehow works, but I still feel ridiculous calling her that.
