Hi all,

I have sent this issue to Terri, but I am looking for any advice/ideas/experiences that you also may have. The bottom line is, I think the elastic (foe) is causing this beautiful new aio to LEAK! Please help!

Here's the story:

Yesterday, DS had on the diaper, assembled as delivered, and lasted until the first pee. 30 minutes. (he is a toddler, almost 3; dipe fits well, using 2nd to last snap, with 'last' meaning the largest setting)

This morning, I did some experimenting.

I poured some water on the doubler. It is soaking in, but possibly not fast enough. Some rolled off. The hemp was able to hold about 1/2 C water provided I didn't pour it one place. Of course, on the child, it is all going to come from one place! I took the shell and poured 1/4 C into the bottom. The microfleece inner absorbed fine, and the cover did stay dry, however, if any water remotely touched the elastic, that was it!! It immediately soaks, and moves right around the front. What this means to me is that if any of the insides get anywhere near the elastic, we are done! I don't know how this is possible with an active toddler. He would be squishing the soakers everytime he moved. The chances of it getting on the elastic are great.

So many of you have had great success with these! That was the main reason why I bought one. How do a avoid this wicking issue?

I am washing the hemp again. This will be about 6 times now. Would spraying the elastic with waterproof spray help at all? ...of course I'd have to do the inside where the elastic is and be careful not to hit the fleece! I really do want this to work out... Suggestions please!

I have the same problem
. I agree, it's the FOE. I adore my FMBG AIO that I have, but never use it b/c of this. Maybe there's something you can do? I actually have never had AIO's NOT wick, so for me it wasnt an exclusive thing w/Terris, kwim? I sold all of my AIO's except for hers....I just couldnt do it.

ETA: she serges her AIO's now. I can't wait to try one. She has the most beautiful fabrics of anyone I think. So, I think that will solve the problem.

I would say yes, wash the hemp more. If it is "ready" nothing should roll off. I think that if it is absorbant enough no wetness should actually soak the FOE. I had one AIO do this and after I treated the hemp it got better. I change more often now that DS is bigger and pees more.

Well, I just got this new last week, so I would think I have the latest version.

Thanks, I think I will boil it tonight. What do you think about flipping the doubler? The fleece part that was up is where some rolled off. Now this is with a really fast pee, if that makes any sense. It is absorbing, maybe just not fast enough. I suppose I could also try a micro fiber towel on the top.

Also, even if the hemp does catch it all, wouldn't the slightest movement of the child affect the placement? Causing the hemp to touch the foe?

Dd is pretty active, and our FMBG AIOs don't wick. I do find that I have to line up the doubler right in the center, but it doesn't seem to move around on us. Of course, being a girl, she's peeing in a different place which might be making a difference in your case, and she also isn't a super-soaker.

However, I agree with the others - you may need to wash that hemp more!

We have serious wicking problems with FOE AIO's. What I found to help...wash the heck out of that soaker. I know you're already doing that so keep it up. Another thing that might help is to use a trifold fleece-topped soaker. When it is folded, there is fleece on the top and on the bottom. Not only is it more layers to help soak, but it the microfleece provides an extra layer of protection between the wet hemp and the FOE.....there isn't wet hemp right against the FOE, there is micro.
