O.k., I got the diva cup yesterday and decided to try it today. I've just pretty much finished ovulating for the "month" but I wanted to try and figure this out BEFORE I started bleeding.

I don't know if the reason it's not working si because it's too big? Maybe I need the smaller size?

The first problem I can't figure out is folding it. I know *how* to fold it, but I can't keep it folded very well with just two fingers/one hand, and too make the top folded tight/small enough to where I can actually get it into my yoni, I have to hold it really close to the top, but that creates a problem because Once I get the very top of it just barely into my yoni, my fingers are in the way and I can't push it in any further. If I let got of the top to grab the bottom and push up, it pops open , hurts REALLY bad (because it's kind of scraping down as it opos open...also creating a somehwat painful suction), and then comes out.

When I try folding and holding it farther down, it hurts pushing it in because it's so big and barely folded at the top, and because it's barely folded at the top, I'm also pushing air into my yoni, making it impossible for it to go very far in. I also end up losing my grip because the base is thin and my fingers slide off so it again, ends up popping open, scraping and creating the suction again.

Please Help! I know it takes tinme to get it just right but I can't even get close to getting it in without causing major pain...I trie it about 6 times and my yoni is really sore now

I tried looking on the diva cup site but they hardly have ANY FAQ or trouble shooting questions and answers. I also did a google search but couldn't find much in the way of reviews/comments, etc...just websites selling them.

TIA!!

Just a thought...and hopefully not too much info....
Maybe the fact that you are trying to use it not during your cycle means that there is not enough lubrication to get it in. Try using something to provide a little lubrication and you may find it easier to get in. During your cycle you may find that things are ususally slippery enough that additional lube is not necessary.

Oh, Blessed...I can relate! I used mine for the first time this month, and it took me the full 5 days to learn to insert/remove the cup without pain!
Absolutely use lubrication if not menstruating. Then, try experimenting with the fold: try folding it so that only the 2 outer edges show, with the 2 inner edges folded in toward the cup--make sense? With only the two outer edges showing (and not 4 edges up against each other, creating an inflexible, flat edge), you can pinch the edges together to change the inserting shape from a wide circle to a narrow oval. That helped me get it in to begin with (phew!).
Then--the popping--OUCHIE!!! I try to get that edge in as far as possible, and then sorta work my fingers down as I push it in. I haven't mastered this part yet...still uncomfortable, but at least it stays in. And then I can grab and squeeze the base, and slowly turn the whole cup as I move it up to a comfortable spot.
I also had to remove the entire stem, as it would rub me painfully when I walked. But by the end of my flow, I was actually quite pleased with my little Diva Cup
I think the key is practice, practice, practice....
