I feel like we are in a big snack slump. Same old, same old every day. I am running out of good ideas for what to offer DD to snack on - especially things that travel well in diaper bags to the playground etc.

Also, it seems that a lot of the snacks that fall in the "healthy" category for me contain a lot of sugar (fruit, yogurt etc) How much sugar is too much? Or are natural sugars like this ok?

For take along snacks we like granola or granola bars and fruit wraps. We get the fruit wraps from Trader Joe's and dd LOVES them. Also, trail mix or freeze dried fruits, although the strawberries are messy for on the go. Everything ends up red! LOL

string cheeese
crackers
easy or pre-cut fruit
applesauce (someone makes it in tubes like the gogurt)
cut up veggies
cereal pieces (cheerios, etc)

I really think natural sugars (whole fruit or all-natural applesauce) are fine. It's added sugar that's really the problem. In fruit, it's combined with fiber, which is a good thing.

We do many of the other mentioned things but I will also make big batches of banana mini muffins and fortify them with all sorts of stuff and freeze them. A couple in a container, they dethaw along the way, and we've got a great snack.

When I nannied, a great summer treat were frozen berries & grapes (for older toddlers).

DS loves cheese sticks, fresh berries (raspberries/blues/strawberries), grapes, steamed broccoli/carrot sticks/asparagus spears, cubes of french bread, cooked plain pasta or pasta salad (with steamed cold veggies with some homemade dressing).

this was one that i was struggling with for a while too, as you don't want them to have too much sugar, soy, dairy, etc. here are some things i've come up with:

-toast or a waffle with either almond butter or hummus (no hummus on the waffle
)

-my dd loves eating beans straigth up (black, kideny, garbanzo)

-pancakes or anything you bake b/c you can control how much and what type of sugar is going into it

-plain yogurt with shredded carrots and yellow squash with a bit of lime juice and some dill

-cheese slices
