I'm trying a low salicylate diet for my 18 month old that I suspect has sals sensitivity (thanks for all the help I've already gotten on this board!!). I swear I read somewhere that calendula is high sals. Both the body lotion and diaper rash creme I have been using have calendula in them. I was also using virgin coconut oil which is also high sals. Does anyone have a recommendation for a lotion and/or diaper creme that will be safe for my son?

Nuts, I was going to suggest earth mama angel baby because I love their line, but it has it in it. It seems that most of the natural, wholesome lines have it in them.

Epicuren has body lotion and butt spray that doesn't contain calendula. The ingredient list is quite long, but compared to alot of them out there is the lesser of all evils, especially if you need to avoid calendula. Epicuren seems quite expensive, but if it works, what can you do? They do have a sampler pack that is probably cheaper in the long run.

I hope you can find something for your lo. Jillian's drawers, is local here in Ithaca and they are always so helpful. I LOVE THEM! My ds and I go in there all the time to play, nurse, shop, visit, whatever...You could probably even give them a call, they might be able to help out further. They have a 800 #. Good luck Mama!

calebsmommy, thanks so much for the suggestions but after some investigation it looks like they all have ingredients I need to avoid

birthkaty, that is a great resource, thank you!! Now I just need to find something on that list that I feel is safe for a baby.

Does anyone with sals sensitivity or a sals sensitive kid have any tried and true suggestions??

Thanks again everyone!!

Beautiful products, but they all have high sals ingredients.

Zoe77, it's really a challenge - natural products are almost all high sals, and the sals free products tend to have a bunch of other stuff I wouldn't put on my baby. Straight shea butter or cocoa butter are OK for sals, and we use lanisoh (sheep lanolin) for diaper rash. Mostly we just don't use lotion, too complicated.

From the reyes list posted I found Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment and Aveeno Baby products. I'm going to check out the ingredients, but probably won't approve. I'll probably go with some strait shea or cocoa butter.

Would the lanisoh nipple cream be ok? I could use that when his cheeks get really dry (which thankfully they haven't lately). I know it makes a great lip balm

Thanks again.

Yup, that's what we use! Never did need it for my nipples, but it works great for everything else
. If you use it a lot on his bum and cloth diaper, you'll have to strip your cloth diapers every so often, but that's true for any diaper cream.
