I highly recommend Dr. Gary Mallis of Grayhawk Peds. He is excellent and completely ok with our choice to not vaccinate! He saw my twins from the time they left the NICU until we moved to the far west valley. Even after we moved out here, I still made the hour long drive to his office just because the kids and I were so comfortable with him and his staff. I was always able to get same day appointments, even if I called in the afternoon. During a period of time that we were not insured, Dr. Mallis offered us med samples and/or coupons.

We've now switched to a practice that is closer to home, La Loma Internal meds and peds. They are good, but nothing at all like the group of people at Grayhawk Peds.

I have been looking for a new ped (non-vax friendly) and contacted Dr. Mallis' office about a week ago. When I called about scheduling a new-patient appt for my 2 yo, I asked if they accepted patients who did not choose to vaccinate, I was informed that Dr. Mallis had changed his policy on non-vaxing and that their office would not be accomodating to our non-vax child. In other words, go elsewhere. I was glad to know up front before I wasted my time, and a copay.

I then called Dr. Rajeev Agarwal and, when I asked about accepting non-vax patients, was told that it was the parents decision to not vaccinate and they would be pleased to schedule an appt.

I saw Dr. Agarwal that day and, when I met with him, I told him why I had chosen his practice and mentioned Mothering (never heard of it!) He didn't openly support my decision to not vax but didn't question my decision or give me a hard time about it. His office staff is excellent and I liked the doc so I'll stick around... until I can find a truly crunchy Ped

I have heard many wonderful things about Dr. Agarwal. Most of the families in our attachment parenting group go to him. I am surprised to hear about his reaction on the vax....that doesn't mesh with what I have heard about him.

I do know this, though....that all traditional peds are monitored by agencies and if they start to accumulate too many patients who are non-vaxxing, they get censured, and certain funds can be cut off....maybe once word gets out about them being accomodating w/ unvaxxers they accumulate too many and get in trouble with big brother.......so that may be part of the problem.

Good luck!
