We're moving to the Deerfield Beach/Fort Lauderdale/Coconut Creek area and are looking for a good pediatrician and/or family practice. Any recommendations? A pediatrician who is open about delaying vaxx would be great too!

Good luck- that's a tough area for non-vax friendly doctors. We just moved from Coral Springs a few months back.

Try this list:
http://www.amazingbirths.com/Pediatr...0Refferals.php

I can't guarantee anything about any of them, but it might be a good starting point. I would be sure to ask some ?'s or set up a consultation before making a real apt.

Hi, we live in Deerfield Beach. I started out going to South Florida Pediatrics in Pompano Beach because a friend highly recommended them. One dr there in particular has been practicing for a long time and is very popular. Unfortunately the dr we saw for the newborn and 1 mo checks insisted DS didn't have thrush (because it didn't look exactly like the picture in the book she showed me) even though a lactation consultant had referred me and I had symptoms too. Subsequent interaction with her was also very frustrating, talking in circles.

I now go to Boca Raton Pediatrics, referred by a nurse at BRCH. I've met 3 of the 4 drs and my overall impression is positive. Seemed to listen more; not sure of all but 1 was a little pushy talking about no nighttime feeding, CIO and no cosleeping. Their welcome pamphlet for new moms lists as #1 Don't breastfeed your baby to sleep. :

Good luck in finding a ped.

I go to a pedi practice in Boca, but just five minutes from Coconut Creek. They really aren't so AP friendly, but one doctor over the other respects me and they both really take their time with you. Appointments are almost always on time and the staff is great. I don't delay vax, so I don't know how much of a hard time they will give you. I just ignore the parenting advice now, but appreciate the medical advice.

They are definitely against cosleeping, but I just ignore it (although I rarely cosleep). In the end, my time and the time that they give me (as much as is necessary, I have never felt rushed) was worth putting up with mumbo jumbo.

If you want to try them out, I'll let you know which doc to see and which to avoid.
