I've had ds in a bassinet next to the side of our futon since he was born. It was a great solution, because our bed is only about 10 inches high and I could reach over to him and lift him easily onto our bed. Now that he is 4 months old he has outgrown the bassinet. He doesn't like it anymore because of this, so I have been bringing him into our bed, which is already pretty small.

We've finally put together a crib we got from friends, and I've taken off one side and moved that close to our bed, but this isn't ideal, because the crib is much higher than out bed. Plus the crib is absolutely huge.

Does anyone have a product suggestion for a larger cosleeper or small bed that is close to the floor that we can move next to our futon?

Thanks so much!

you could maybe get a crib-sized mattress or futon - or even a twin-sized futon if you have the space and think you would use if for him later when he gets his own bed - and put it down on the floor. then it would be about the same height as your bed. i found a company called northern naturals on the web that sells cotton futons with no chemicals for pretty decent prices. i think they might have crib size. good luck!

Not sure why you need another product.

We sleep on futons (directly on the floor) and the kids sleep on them just fine, too. If you put rugs under them they don't slide apart either. Squish 'em together and you've got a really big bed, too ... we have a queen and two "Hollywood" twins (a little wider than regular twins) and it's about wall2wall and it's just an enormous bed.

And when they get older, it's great for making pillow forts, too ...
