ok, mamas, i have lots of cloth diapers at home. i bought them off of ebay when i was preggers, but every time i use them on my daughter, she gets a horrible rash. so i have been using sposies for a long time. i would like to use the cloth, but not at the expense of her butt, kwim? i use all cotton diapers, with cotton inserts, when i cd. could the cotton be giving her a rash? i use good laundry detergent that is hypoallergenic, and even used vinegar in the rinse cycle. i would change her as soon as she was wet, but her butt would get so raw that i would just take her diaper off much of the time, and she would pee on the floor. so what if i use fleece or something on the inside of the diaper? some time of fabric that will wick away the moisture...i think the cotton makes the pee stick to her skin. tia

Try washing with HOT HOT water, no detergent and see if you have suds. It sounds like the previous owner might have used detergent with enzymes that your daughter is reacting to? which detergent are you using & how much are you using?

If you have suds, keep washing until you see no more suds, then start using less. check out to see how your detergent rates here http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.co...entchoices.htm

I would venture to guess it is probably is the detergent that is giving your baby a rash. We had that problem with ds, he would get a wicked rash from anything that wasn't perfume or dye free, so we only use that kind of soap and I use a quarter of what the manufacturer recommends(and the dipes still come out super clean) and we have had no rash issues since.
