Need some thoughts

Over the last month or so, I've been debating about a WAHM biz. POtentially buying.Well that has been sorted out. I *may* be purchasing something, but we'll see, otherwise I've been designing a few different ideas, and currently building my website.

Now, here's the thing. My mom wants to do something too. She isn't internet literate, she's scared of it..lol.. so she'll be selling through me. But she doesn't know where to begin.

She sews beautifully. Has all the machines a woman could want, embroidery, serger, and sewing.

Can you gals help her out here, through some ideas out there? She doesn't want to step on anyones toes and steal ideas some one else is doing, she's looking for a hole in the market. Something that is wanted but lacking. She'd appreciate ANY ideas you have.

Thanks!

I don't know if this is possible or even interesting, but I am always looking for unique appliques. I sew mine on, so they don't need to have a sticky back to them. I wonder if she can make those types of things with an embroidery machine? Or I wonder if she can make neat things with breastfeeding or AP slogans on them?
well, i guess im not suggesting anything in PARTICULAR but i do find that the most popular items on my website are the UNIQUE ones. so whatever you decide to do, for instance, even if it's just a doll or a shirt or something, the major selling point for me has been that it's different. (if you look at my site, the rattles and handmade hats sell really well). custom, handmade stuff always does well, too, because that's also going with the one-of-a-kind theme.
i think the applique idea is a good one because you can make 'em and use 'em on your products as well as sell them to wahms- & right there you have 2 markets- moms & work-at-home-moms.
anyway. hope this helped even a little bit!
blessings! hope it all goes well & congratulations!
