This is absurd, but my one month old has no middle name yet. I just can't put my finger on it. Soooo, I'm looking for suggestions. It needs to be an english/british sounding name and slightly magical. His first name is from the Arthurian legends and I want something with same flavor. He is a magical and peaceful baby and needs to be named accordingly! Any suggestions? HELP!

It's a peripheral one...Emrys. My other kids have very...ummm....magical/mythological names as well. Dd is named Selkie, ds is Quillian. Emrys is the first to have a name that isn't gaelic in it's roots. He's just a different sort of kid. Love your name by the way-considered it for a girls name. I have a slight obsession with Arthurian legend myself-instilled by my father who has knights, dragons and swords all over his office (and he's the director of public works!) I grew up on fantasy. Hope to let my kids as well.

The Seeing Stone by Kevin Crossley-Holland has a list of characters in the front of the book. Not sure if he added these when he wrote the story based on the legend or if they are actually names from the story. One of the names I really like is "Sian" pronounced "Shawn", but it is listed as a girl's name. I think it is beautiful for either.

In another bookThe Story of the Champions of the Round Table by Howard Pyle they have Percival. A beautiful child, who his mother loved very much. So much she tried to protect him from the world by hiding him in the mountains. She later realized that he was meant for greatness and she had to let him go. He became a famous knight. A pretty magical guy. He made his armous from willow twigs. He laughed at the world when they made fun of him. He saw merriment and joy, not mockery.

Just a little trivia.

Emrys is beautiful. It is tough coming up with middle names sometimes.
My ds is Arthur Conrad (both family names) and my dd is Fiona Ruth (middle is family name also) but they fit both kids perfectly. I understand about magical names. They will carry it for the rest of their life. Very important stuff.

Everyone thinks I names my kids after cartoon characters. Duh, Arthur and Fiona are very old names, but everyone associates them with whatever is current. When they get older, no one will remember "Shrek" (we picked my daughter's name years ago, before Shrek came out and we were not going to change it once we saw her. We knew it was the right name.)

Good luck!
