I just have to vent this out. I was just outside with my kids (ages 2.5 and 10 months) and I was nursing the 10 month old while our older daughter played in her kiddie pool and sandbox. So there I was just sittin on a blanket under a tree when my neighbor (our houses are separated by a chain fence) yelled over that I should "do that inside!" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:<br><br><br>
WTH! it's my backyard!!!! Is this country so backwards that one cannot even nurse <i>on their own property!</i>!!!<br><br>
I was nice and calm as I could be and just said that "if I wanted to nurse inside, I would have to pack the kids up every time he wanted to nurse and go inside" then I caved and threw in some snark "you'd be surprised at the things people are allowed to do in their own yards!"<br><br>
He left after that. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">: we just moved here and I love the neighborhood but what a bummer that our neighbor acts like such a dork! (can I say that? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> )

I breasfeed in my backyard all the time. We do have a privacy fence, but it is directly connected to the neighbors on both sides. Mine have never said anything, but I always hope they won't. Just wanted to let you know your not alone.

Maybe if you're lucky, this "incident" will prompt your neighbor to install his own privacy fence, thereby giving you some added privacy with your family away from his ignorant comments.<br><br>
Last week I got very annoyed with city living, knowing that if we still live here when the baby is older and comprehending more language, the music played outdoors by my next door neighbor will need some serious explaining.

I momentarily felt bad about the snark, but this is the same neighbor who, when my husband didnt mow a section of the lawn near the property line (at the time he wasn't sure if it was ours or theirs due to the position of their fuel oil pipes) said to me "are you going to finish mowing your lawn anytime soon?" (pointing to the section.<br><br>
That was the other day when I was walking back to the house with the kids.<br><br><br>
He seemed like a nice guy when we met them while looking at the house. Not sure what happened! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:

Ug... neighbors. I would just nurse happily as much as possible out side. ANd if you see them wave hi! I used to nurse all the time in the front or the back (where i Do ahve a privacy fence). My husband was at first freaked but who cares. I'm sure they have gotten peaks at more while I skirt around in the morning feeding the cat on the way to the shower <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> You really can't let people get to you. There will always be the neighbor who measures the heights of your lawn, the one that is the constant gossip/snoop and the one that gets away with everything, and then the normal people. Somehow I always imagine i"m the normal one, but I know I have to be some steriotype. OH wait I know the one that had her boob out all the time probably.

Um, no! Why should she have to go to the trouble and expense of planting something so her neighbour can't see her doing something perfectly healthy and legal? If he doesn't want to see he can either not look, or HE can build a fence/plant ivy.

I have a privacy fence around my property however, the neighboor could see into my backyard from his seocnd floor window.<br><br>
