I am so angry. We rent the downstairs of a house in a neighborhood tight with houses. It was hot yesterday and I put ds down for a nap on our family bad which is right against a window. I had the window open for the nice breeze as it was a really hot day. We fell asleep with ds nursing, and I was awoken to the feeling of wet or perhaps it was just the sick smell. I looked out to see that the neighbor was spraying weed killer in his backyard up to the edge of our house. I ran out to give him a piece of mind mind and he said he didn't not even go near our house, but it was all wet around the lawn of our bedroom window. It must have been the wind blowing it our way. Anyway, running out there with bare feet was a mistake as they started to burn with contact with our wet lawn, so I know this stuff is toxic. I checked the bedroom and nothing was wet, so I decided to just close the windows.
This was the evening, and ds slept almost through the night which is so rare and woke up with little bumps, but not that noticeable all over his belly. He even threw up this morning which he never does. He is coughing to and I have a sore throat too.

Normally if we get a little cold or something, I just stick it out and do't run to the dr's. But is this something we should get checked out? Ds seems happy, so I don't know.

I would ask the neighbour for the bottle of weed killer so that you can know which herbicide/pesticide you're dealing with. There's probably also instructions on the bottle as to what to do if you suspect poisoning. If you have a poison control center in your area, I'd give them a call and tell them the whole story, along with the name of the particular product and they should have the information you need. I had to call them several times when my first daughter was a toddler, they really do have quite a bit of info, and generally will know when you should consult a doctor.

As an aside: I wish they would make that stuff out-and-out illegal and take it off the shelves altogether.

Oh my gosh, that's just awful. I would be VERY angry if my neighbour did that! I'm sorry I don't have any advice.

I'm so sorry that happened! I would definitely get the bottle of that weed killer and take him in to get checked out immediately, in addition to calling Poison Control. If he keeps vomiting, I'd take him to the ER because vomiting is a sign of poisoning. I'm not one to run to the doctors at anything either but with symptoms like that and knowing how toxic that weed killer was, I wouldn't just wait it out.

I am going to get that bottle right away. My baby stopped coughing and vomiting, but he is covered with bigger bumps all over him torso. So maddening!

Yet another--go to the ER or the doctor right away, and send someone else to get the weed killer from the neighbor. It sounds like a poisoning or allergic reaction to me--could it be hives? It should keep the neighbor from doing something so ridiculous again too. He should have let you know so you could shut the windows at least.

I contacted ds's doctor and they recommended calling poison control. I did and they said that the weed killer has no connection with a rash that is getting worse more than 12 hours after coming in contact with. They said that weed killer would cause an immediate reaction an that is it from something else.

The Dr said that it could be heat related since it is hot here finally here in the northeast, but that it would change with something like a cool bath. I gave him a cool epsom salt bath and no change with the rash. Actually the rash is worse since my last post about 2 hours ago. The Dr said I am welcome to come in, but since they are closed now, I would have to go to the ER.

I would go in. I would think your neighbor would be liable for the medical bills, but I don't know for sure.

I am still deciding if I will take him to the ER. DH thinks it is not necessary, saying that they will only want to give abx that we probably will not give due to abx allergies.

I was goggling his symptoms and they match measles 100% except for the fact that the rash is lighter that the online pics. But at the rate it is spreading it could get darker.

If he's still getting worse, I would take him in as well.

My plan now is to wait till the morning to take him to the ped. I will only take him to the ER if I have to. The last time I took him to the ER, they slit him open by accident and left him bleeding all over the floor for almost 2 hours. But that is another story. This is the reason for my hesitation to take him in. I am going to monitor him throughout the night. He is already in bed.

Thanks everyone for the support and feedback. I really needed it today.

Oh, Mama!! I'm so sorry to hear this! I know you must be beside yourself. You seem to be keeping your wits about you, though.

I know you have some pascalite -- can you get some of that in him, to help usher out the pesticides? If you're out of the pascalite, you can also use activated charcoal, which you can get at the HFS. Doesn't Modifilan also do a good job at removing pesticides?

All that said, I do believe that your ds will be OK. It's a one-time exposure, and you have the tools to make it better. I'm so sorry it happened! I know it's one of those things you just want to reverse.
