I use 1 cup water to 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt. Some people use sea salt. You can also add baking soda but I don't remember the amount. You'll find a lot of recipes if you google.
I fill with warm water and add 1/4 teaspoon salt (it kind of depends on the size of your neti pot). I've tried sea salt and regular salt and honestly I can't tell the difference.
