I have been battling a cold for a couple of weeks and bought myself a neti pot, but the handful of times I've used it I got a sore throat. I assume that water is dripping post nasally and is irritating my throat. What am I doing wrong? I don't feel the water going the wrong way.
Thnks!

Are you using salt in the water? What ratio? The only time using the neti pot has hurt for me was when I forgot to add salt to the water!
Not sure what's recommended, but I use 1 teaspoon sea salt to one cup of warm filtered water.

After flushing, it's important to do a lot of nose-blowing into a cloth in a variety of positions while gently shaking your head - nose pointing up, nose pointing down, etc. Also be sure to use a saline solution - approx 1 tsp per cup of water.

My instructions say only 1/4 tsp per cup of water, no wonder I'm having problems. I will also try the nose blowing in different positions.
Thanks!

I've actually read to use as little as 1/8 tsp
