Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed watching it. What was she going to do with the basket of watches, do you suppose?

Oh, that was so great to watch! Thank you so much for sharing the link.

It occurred to me, while watching it, that I have actually become more "like her" than I ever thought I would. I never would have imagined it, but the longer I stick to my frugal practices, the less extreme they feel.

And I absolutely love that she tells people how not to need her book! Although I think maybe she's wrong - her book is full of ideas (both easy to try and more mind-stretching ones) that help even more than just keeping track of what you spend.

She is totally right - living this lifestyle helps you weather the down times much more easily. I'm living that right now. My husband has been out of work for almost a year, and it's been easier than I expected, because we're already spending next-to-nothing on clothes for the kids, making creative use of our garden and rocery budget, making the most of leftovers, repairing instead of replacing, networking for what we need, etc etc etc.

Go, Amy!

I agree -- I was actually a subscriber of hers back in the day (and even got to meet her during one of her book tours) and I'm currently re-reading The Complete Tightwad Gazette and bookmarking like crazy!

I wish I knew her so I could get a tour of that gorgeous house. I was wondering, though, if she thinks it's too big now that the kids are all getting older? I kept looking at the outside thinking, that's a lot of house to clean!

Also, I loved that she referred to the portable CD player as a "DVD player." Such a mom mistake to make!
