Hi everyone, My name is Monica. I just found this site and I am still looking around. I just thought I would post this in the hopes that someone could help.
I have an 18 year old disabled son. He currently has CP, Autism, Epilepsy, ADD, and Kleine-Levin Syndrome. He is indepedent, for the most part, with toileting but he requires alot of assistance (sometimes total assistance) when he is in a KLS episode or when he first wakes up since he has all of his seizures while sleeping (about 7 a night). I have tried and tried for the past 16+ years to teach him to "aim" and he really does try. However, he almost never makes it. There are times that he is so shaky and unsteady that he sprays EVERYWHERE if i am not standing there with him. I find myself cleaning the toilet and floor and walls at least 4-8 times a day. We tried teaching him to "clean his mess" but then he gets more messy than the mess itself. I have searched for help on the internet and we have looked for specialty toilets that may be more suited for him but we can't find anything. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for this issue?
The doctors just look at me like I am crazy when i ask for their help with this issue. To me, it is important since it is a sanitary issue. I know I am not the only parent of a SN child that deals with this. Someone please help me.
Thanks so much.
