I'm new to all the natural cleaning stuff...excuse the stupid questions please!

First, what are the common acronums around here? Like EO(Maybe essential oils??), GSM, etc??

Second, what's the best non-toxic way of cleaning my overused couch?? I have used that "Resolve" thing in the past, which works great, except that it's so toxic!!

Thanks a million!!!

Well you're right on eo=essential oils, but that's as far as I can help you...
bs - baking soda
tto - tea tree oil
acv - apple cider vinegar

why not get/rent a steam cleaner for the couch?
Thank You!
If I rent a steam-cleaner,what do I use as cleaning solution???
I'd say drag it outside and let it bake in the sunshine for a couple of days.

Maybe after steaming it.
Dunno-I just use a little vinegar and tea tree oil, but no idea what's best

i personally think that in a forum like this, acronyms shouldn't be used for stuff like that, mainly for this reason: people who come into this forum to lurk + learn may get confused easily....

anyway my suggestion for the sofa is to first vaccuum it using the brush attachment w/ the hose, to get off all the dust, hair, etc.

if you can, remove any cushion covers, etc., and throw them in the washer: hot water, borax, + detergent, then hot water, detergent and 1 C vinegar, then dry. this should get out anything that's caked in there.

then mix together a solution of tea tree oil and water ~ get a spray bottle that has a mister (not a squirty thing), fill it with water, then add 5-10 drops tea tree oil. screw the top on tightly and shake well to mix, then spray all over the sofa. you can either rub it in with your hands, or brush it in with a hard bristled brush, like the kind you use for cleaning. then let it dry. this will kill any mold or mildew that's growing on it or just under the surface of it.

vinegar, grape seed oil, and tea tree oil are all excellent anti-fungals and anti-microbials.
