I'm almost 20 wks with #4, just jumping in here...

I see a few other mamas have the pubis symphysis dysfunction... it can be ROUGH. I had sporadic chiro care with #2, but didn't get in close enough to my labor and I feel it did affect me. With #3 I went in to the chiro when I was in early labor and she was born about 7 hours later. Didn't have any problems at all.

Did get WONDERFUL relief seeing a chiro weekly throughout the pregnancy. It's getting time to start going again and we've moved so I'm REALLY hoping I can find another who will help as much.

Hello and Welcome.

I have this too (pubis symphysis dysfunction) and it is the worst it's ever been and I'm only 23 weeks.

I'm concerned about finding a chiro in my area that is knowledgeable enough to treat this. I live in Wyoming and we only have a few chiros in my town. My births are pretty fast (3 hours #1), (30 mins #2), (5 hours #3) but my recovering is long and hard.

What I'm noticing now is difficulty getting my pants on and off (unless I'm sitting) and a lot of pain getting out of bed in the mornings or after nap. If it gets any worse, I might have to talk to MW about some painkillers because it is starting to affect my regular day. What has been your experience with painkillers? Have you ever used them to treat this? How long does it take you to recover postpartum?

Nice chatting with you!

river-- Thanks!
It's been pretty accurate in my nursing life... LOL

Michelle-- I've actually heard that it gets worse with each progressive pregnancy. I haven't used painkillers for this... but like I said I've had really good experience with chiropractors. My labors were not as short as yours, but my recovery doesn't last long. I don't have much trouble with the SPD after the first week postpartum, certainly nothing like it is while I'm pregnant. Getting out of bed has started getting hard but I'm not letting it get too bad this time.

Welcome to the group!

I don't have PS issues, but my sacroiliac joint is absolutely killing me. It was bad my first pregnancy, but not this early on, and now it's almost constant. I was just reading online about it and there doesn't seem to be much that can be done about it, unfortunately. I guess the good news is for me, it was relieved almost immediately after I had Brynn, so I'm assuming it won't last this time either. It just really sucks!!

PS: Where in Ohio do you live? We lived near Dayton for three years, in Yellow Springs.
