Hi everyone... I am new to the area... So a quick intro on me.... Born and Raised in Syracuse NY, spent the last 8 years in NJ... Married, DH is still in NJ wrapping up the sale of our house. I have been here since August and have NO ONE around here. No family, no friends.... nada...

I have a 15month old named Madeline. She is my life... I went through multiple pregnancy losses and then a barrage of tests before having one of the most horrific pregnancies.. I was fine, but went to an OB who did every intervention known to man. I spent most of my pregnancy worrying, and sick. In the end, they tried pinning me with insulin resistance which they used to their advantage, and ignored when it didn't suit them... I fought off an induction or cesarean until 40 weeks 3 days.. I had a doula, and a plan... I wanted a natural birth.... Needless to say, my OB wanted to cover his legal ass and tell me my child was 11+ pounds, and I was being selfish for not wanting surgery... No one was there to support me except my doula, and I caved... Sigh...I have been battling PTSD and PPD since then and now I am alone up here...

So I am looking for some friends from the area and look forward to sharing... Thanks for reading, and I hope to get to know you all!

Hi Carrie

I don't check this forum very often but your thread caught my eye. I am also "new" to New Hampshire having been here since August. I moved here with my dh and 2 kids (2.5 years and 8 months) after 7 years in New Mexico. We don't have any immediate family closer than western NY so I understand your situation a little bit. Where do you live in NH? We are in the Concord area.

Sorry to hear about your difficult pregnancy and birth. PM me if you just need someone to talk to.

Thank you for your replies..

I am in Newmarket right now, working in Portsmouth. I do love the area, and really hope my lifestyle will go well here... (My last OB called me crunchy... gag).

Searching for a place to live permanently and set down some roots... So far I love the area, and want to get some land and have a nice little house... The seacoast area is so expensive though... my DH still does not have a job, so when he gets up here and finds one, then maybe I can focus on where to live...

Thanks again for your replies, and I hope to write more!

Another new NH mama here. I'm NW of Pkymouth now, but moving to Concord in a few months... I hope you find some locals to meet up with. MSG me anytime if you need support. I'm not as close to you, but I empathise with the TSD issues and being a newbie to an area. My dh and I moved 7 times in the last 36 months!

Hi Carrie-
I am also newer to NH as well- my husband and I moved to Concord from Central NY a few months ago. (I was born and raised in Syracuse as well- well, Camillus/West Genesee area) and we lived in Madison Cty the past 8 years. We are about an hour away from Portsmouth but head that way pretty often since it has such a fabulous children's museum.

Just wanted to offer my support to a fellow newbie granite stater- PM me anytime!!

Hi Carrie

Just wanted to say hi and offer my support as well! I'm not new to the area but I completely understand the alone part, lol! We live in Barnstead, which is about 30 minutes from Concord, although we're in Concord all the time. We have a 7 yr old homeschooled daughter, a 3 yr old son, and a 6 month old son. We actually have good friends who just moved from NH to the Syracuse, NY area because housing is so much cheaper there. We've been considering moving out there ourselves but it's a big change, which I'm sure you know! Anyhow, just wanted to say hi. PM me anytime!

Concord area here.

PM me anytime!

I'm the mother of a 6yo schooled boy.

Anyone else in Concord with young children know about The Children's Place? It's GREAT. They do respite care for children of SAHP, for only a few hours a week. It's perfect for those doctor's appts. that you don't want to drag your children to, or for just getting 2 or 3 hours to yourself to regain your sanity.

Helped me tremendously when my son was little. Thought I'd spread the word!

I'm in Dover, Nh (Heya Newmarket mamas!). If you're ever in the seacoast area we could do a playdate at the Portsmouth Children's Museum. We don't get up to the Hebron area too often anymore but we LOVE it there.

Hi Carrie,

I live over in Stratham....and I am also having a tough time finding other mom's to hang with! My husband is born and raised Syracuse! I have lived in NH my whole life, but most of my friends have moved away, and I am the only one that has had a baby. My son is only 3 months, so there is a bit of an age difference in the little ones, but would be more than happy to get together! Have you signed up for Mommy and Me classes or anything life that? I found a class called Music Together of Portsmouth....check out their website: www.musictogetherofportsmouth.com

We are starting their Newmarket class next month!

I used to live in Concord ,NH and now I live near the Catskill Mtns in NY. It is nice to see more people from or near cocord on here, even if I'm not there.

There is a Children's Museum in Concord on Main St. it's called Kaleidoscope. I didn't get a chance to go because they just opened it up but it looks like fun.
http://www.kaleidoscopechildrensmuseum.net/

Hi Carrie! I'm a southern girl...we moved to NH (we're in Dover) almost exactly a year ago. I think you'll feel very welcome and supported in the area! Feel free to PM me for a playdate if Dover's not too far from you. Sadly, I'm still not sure where Newmarket is. Are you in Rockingham or Merrimack Co.?

I'm so sorry your birth wasn't the one you had envisioned and desired and worked for! That really is tough... even births that seem to have gone well can take months of processing. It's even tougher for births that veer so far from your original plan.

Hi Carrie,
We're in Durham. My son was born at the end of August and I also had a birth that went very differently than I had hoped for (and am now dealing with all of the feelings that accompanied it). Feel free to pm me and I'd be glad to get together for playdates and new mom sharing!
