Although I've talked to a couple of mamas out there, I'm now putting out a desperate plea... we've only been here about a month and a half now, I barely know anyone, we live a good 20 minutes outside of chapel hill and the same in time from graham and pittsboro. DH and I are both at home trying to get our business reset now that we've returned to the States. AND I am trying to mother our DD who is almost four months.

I'm frankly going out of my mind. I need time to be a mama, time to work on our project (or I'll have to return to a regular job outside of the house in two months), time to be a wife, and JUST TIME FOR ME!!!! I'm burying myself in the computer just to get away from it all. I don't know if it's the new mom thing or just coping with an international move, having a young baby, etc etc, but I just have no motivation to do much of anything

Are there any moms out there who also have younger babes that I could talk to get together with, and of course other moms in general. I will go to the Rock the Baby this weekend just to get out of the house before I rip my hair out or start bawling like crazy!!!

Have you been to the Weaver Street lawn? Tonight is the Farm Tour kickoff. We won't actually be there, but anyway I don't have babies! When we did, hanging out on the Weaver Street lawn was a great way to meet other baby-mamas. Also, La Leche if you are nursing. I'll keep thinking!

Hey mama~ We met at the D&D consignment sale. My youngest dd is almost 10 months but I'd love to plan a playdate w/ you and baby C!! Do come to RTB this weekend...I'll be there early until we take things down. Let's talk then and see if we can't plan something soon. In the meantime...big, BIG

I'll be at RTB this weekend, too... stop by my table and introduce yourself!! I'll have some slings and nursing necklaces for sale, plus be handing out doula business cards. Should be easy to spot us... Triangle Doulas.

This is me and baby:
http://triangledoulas.com/images/rebecca_bio.jpg

I live in Raleigh but if you're up for the drive, I'd be happy to tell you about lots of great mama meetings in this area.

Hi Laura,

I agree that LLL is a great way to get out of the house and meet other mamas...my ds is almost 9 months old, but I don't have a lot of mama friends, so I'd love to get together sometime...maybe with Ashley and Miss L too? PM me if you'd like my phone # and we can chat

p.s. I live near Southpoint in Durham, so I'm not sure exactly how far that is from you...

Well I'm not really near South point but it's closer than Raleigh/cary. I'm about 20 minutes west of Carrboro but go to Ch/Durham a lot. Do you wear your babies at all?

let's see if we can get together.

yep, I'm already in all the forums and I guess I just need to try to get out, it's just kind of tough because we're not really close to any one area. Went to LLL Rock the Baby yesterday and met up with some mamas there which was great.

Thanks

Hi Laura - I had to miss Rock the Baby and am bummed! Yes, I'm wearing my ds in a bh but am still trying to master a pouch - much tricker for me for some reason. What would be a location 1/2 way for all of us . . . hmmmmm.

Well Chapel Hill or Carrboro may be a good half-way point? The Weaver Street Lawn might be a good place to meet for lunch or something) I try to be home by 6 or 7 at the latest for ds's bedtime) My parents live in Carrboro, so I am always happy to make a trip out there. I also want to visit the Red Hen to see about consigning a few things, becuase I have been coveting an Ergo (which she sells) and I could use the store credit!

So yes, I do babywear, mostly in a MT or ring sling (or pouch...) The RS has been great for keeping ds from looking all around while nursing! I went to one NINO meeting, but I don't remember meeting you Laura. I think it was in February.

jbpoetmom, where do you live near Southpoint? We're in Parkwood...I know another mama who is a member of NINO lives in Parkwood, and has a baby named Liam.

jbpoetmom and Laura, your babies are both much younger than Logan, so I will be happy to meet wherever is easiest for you, my house included!

Well, ds usually naps from around 8 or 9 until 10 or 11, so around noon should work well for us. He usually takes another nap around 2 or so, but I can always go and hang out at my mom's for that nap.

We walk to the Parkwood library a lot--it only takes us about 15 minutes to walk there, which I love. When I moved from Chapel Hill to Durham, I couldn't wait to get my new library card and have the whole Durham library collection at my fingertips! (is there a nerd smiley?: --I guess that will do.)
