I just bought a new native pouch off Ebay and I think it may be the wrong size. I am 5'3 145pds and I have a 6mt 16pd baby. The pouch is a size medium. When she is in the pouch she hangs down to the top of my thighs. Is that normal?? Also I have not washed it yet if I do will it shrink?? If so how much?? I really want this to work. I have had a ring sling, and a moby and don't care for either that much. HELP!!!!!!!

nope, that sounds way too big. when the baby is in the pouch she should be right at your belly button. new natives tend to run large, I'm not sure about shrinkage though...

You need a pouch REALLY snug. I have fleece and cotton pouches and the only hard thing is that you just can't get that top rail snug enough unless it's really snug to start. You'll get a back ache big time

Was it advertised the wrong size or something? FWIW, I am your weight and 5'5", and I can never wear bigger than a size small in a pouch. I tend to weigh a little more than most my size, but I never fall into anyone's sizing chart!

I don't know what a new native is, but are they adjustable? If not measure on the website and make sure yours matches. SOmetimes I think people on ebay don't mention washing/stretching, or just plain forget what size they have.

Sounds too big. I think my New Native is a medium and I'm 5'11". My ds is 3 now but when I put him in the NN on my hip he sits about where he'd be if I were holding him on my hip.

Wash it in hot and dry it on high heat. That will shrink it. My mil just did that to my New Native. She was borrowing it while waiting for her New Native to come in the mail. It shrunk 2 inches!! It's actually too small now. See if that works since you can't return it.

I'm 5'2 and my NN is a small, and it's too big for me. It was ok when we were doing kangaroo carry and cradle etc, but now that he's on my hip it's definitely too low. And the sewn-together bit means that it's hard to do a "flip" to shorten it. You'll get a sore back for sure!! Try selling it on ebay or craigslist and maybe get an adjustable Kangaroo Korner? I'm now thinking that's the way to go. I love my NN but wish it fit me right--and washing it hasn't helped.

NN runs big. I always recomend togo a size smaller than their charts reccomend. If you can't return it try shrinking it. Can you sew at all? You could make it smaller yourself, Jan at Sleeping Baby Productions (.net) has some instructions for making pouches and getting them to fit.
