There's a Wal-Mart on Tchoupitoulas in the Lower Garden District. There's also a Whole Foods on Magazine Street (or was, before Katrina, not sure about now) near the park end (can't remember exactly where - but almost certain it's on the park side of Napoleon). There also used to be a smaller natural foods store near where Whole Foods is now with a fantastic deli, but I'm not sure if it's still there now.

For a mall, you'll have to go to the 'burbs. There's Lakeside shopping center in Metairie (on Veterans, I think). There are lots of great shops in the city, though.

hi mamajandtheboys,
I lived in New Orleans for 6 years and loved it. We were unfortuentantly (sp) flooded out from our home in Gentilly. We are now living in Lafayette but go down at least every other weekend to work on the house. Let me know if I can help you in anyway. I've just had a baby 7 1/2 months. She was going to be born in New Orleans. My doula lives in New Orleans if your interested. Anyway, welcome! Thanks also for moving there. I do believe that New Orleans will become a great city once again!

Hey, sorry I didn't post sooner.

Whole Foods is open at Arabella and Magazine.
Sav-A-Center is at the corner of Napoleon and Magazine.
Zara's is at Lyons and Prytania.
Winn Dixie is at Jefferson and Tchoupitoulas.
The Farmer's Market is at Uptown Square on Tuesdays (Broadway and River Road). It's also in the CBD at Julia and Magazine, I *think*, on Saturday mornings.

Good luck with your move!
