Hello Mamas!

Since I'm way ahead of you on the time zone thing, I thought I'd start the thread. It's lovely here in Sweden today - this is the week of the big Midsommar celebration. My youngest's pre-school is going to do the traditional maypole dancing in costume. And Swedes all over the country are will be preparing midsommar meals which must include new potatoes and strawberries.

But I can't really have either because I failed my glucose test. I will apparently be seeing a dietician soon (they just send you a appointment notice in the mail). So I've also started some exercising (mostly upper body - because of the hip thing) for real.

I'm off to the post office now to pick up a new copy of Dr. Sears' "The Baby Book" that I ordered for a new mom friend of mine. If any first-time mom hasn't bought a good book about baby development, illnesses, etc. This one is fantastic!!!

How is everyone else doing?

Doing good here.
My daughter had her first migraine last night so I was worried about her all night. She started complaining about her head hurting in the evening and then started crying in pain and then threw up and went to sleep. She said she wanted to be in her own bed even though I tried to convince her to sleep with me, so I was up all night checking on her. She never had a fever and I am waiting for her to wake up this morning to see how she is. She seems ok so far though.
I have another NST appt tommorrow. I have a doctor's appt too so I'll be there all morning again. It really sucks that I have to spend my day off there every week.
My pelvic pain is increasing and I notice a real difference late in the afternoon. I think sitting at my desk aggravates it and by the time I get off from work, I can barely walk. I live for my bed right now and cannot wait to get home everyday and just strip down and stretch out. I don't think I've even spent more than a minute or two in my living room in several weeks.

Did anyone do anything special for Father's Day? Even though DH forgot about me on Mother's Day, I couldn't just forget about him. I got him a Father's Day "kit" as I called it. It included everything that a Father needs. In it I had a new digital camera for him, because every father needs a good camera. It also had a bottle of Old Spice, an ugly tie, and a "Daddy" mug. He loved it.
We went out to eat and met up with my FIL and BIL at the restaurant. FIL really annoyed me though when we got there. We were walking up to the front where we saw FIL and BIL standing and FIL started imitating a waddling motion with his cheeks puffed out really big and his arms stretched out and then said "Who does this remind you of?"
: Needless to say, I was not amused. The last thing I need is someone making fun of the way I am walking. I told him, "I'm walking like this because I am in pain!" On the way in, he noticed I had bought some new clothes and he said "I see you finally had to break down and buy some maternity clothes, huh?" God, he doesn't know when to stop.

Well, hope everyone else had a good week and remember... We are One week closer!!

I can not believe there are less than 8 weeks to go here. Yikes!! Am I the only one hoping to go a little late?

I am in excrutiating pain a lot of the time from my hip/pelvis/sciatic thing, but I need the extra time to get stuff done.

My husband goes in and out of being helpful, and isn't here all that much(we're seperated), so I don't have a lot of help on that front. I wish I could nap everyday, I have been so tired.

I swear this little one keeps going transverse on me still, seems weird, I'm confident she will be head down for the birth though.

Ummm...can't think of much else to say right now.

No, one of my 7 year old twins. I am trying to get off from work right now to go home and get her and take her to the ER. She woke up today and still has a headache so I think she needs to go in. I am so worried about her.

Well, at 32 weeks here, things are going well. My baby is still flipping around from tranverse, to head down and a lot of oblique in between (I swear I'm going to have holes in my pelvic bones at the rate it's going!)

I'm soooooo happy because I've arranged the rest of my vacation so that I'm only working 4 day weeks... well, really 2 day weeks with a one day break in the middle! Wednesdays off has a nice ring to it, yes? I really respect all of you who have toddlers to chase full time, cuz I just can't keep up with the 3 year olds at work any more! (Luckily my coworker is more than happy to compensate)

Mommysusie, I'm sorry to hear that your dd had a migraine, I've only ever had a few and they are rotten!

How go all the preparations and baby showers? I'm looking forward to my two celebrations this weekend quite a bit, plus, once the gifts are in I'll know what else I need to buy!

I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow. Not a lot to report. Pregnancy seems to involve LOTS of just waiting. But no news is good news! My DH is being nicer to me. He actually got a concussion from kickboxing last week, and after that, he stopped picking on me. I am trying to decide whether to take DS out of preschool. It's not very expensive, but we are trying to save money where ever we can. Now that we go to a local playgroup at least once a week, he gets to play with other kids for free. But I wonder if he would rather have some time to himself after the baby is born. Any thoughts?

Oh, man. I want to go late. I feel so unready for this little one. What energy I do have gets directed toward running after 19-month DS. Oh, if he would just take a nap during the afternoons...

Otherwise I'm feeling good. OB said I was in boringly good health, in a great way. After having my OB practice break apart a few weeks ago, I have been very comfortable with the one doc I followed and the new doc. I am super happy with their approach to natural, unmedicated, intervention-less childbirth. Yeah!

Mommysusie: please let us know how it goes.

Queen of The Pride: My thought would be to keep the status quo until you're really hitting your stride with the new baby. Then make the decision. You may need the time with nursing, he may need the stability of routine.

On a really OT: I'm sitting on the phone calling&calling&calling the Thomas the Tank engine recall number, because I have emailed them twice about how to return trains from overseas, and they keep sending me a form that says : If you live outside the US or Canada, Do not use this form!!! Argh! and their lines are busy...

I had a stress dream about birth the other night. I really don't want to do the hospital thing yet can't quite wrap my mind around a home birth. The midwives around here don't have backup OBs, which worries me & I wasn't able to get "in" with the one OB who might have acted like a backup without saying as much.

So I'm stressed. Don't know what to do.

Thanks everyone for your concern. I have been really worried about her.
I was able to get off from work and go home, but I had called her dad earlier in the day and by the time I got there he was there too taking a look at her. (He's a doctor). He thinks she still had a headache today because she hadn't eaten or drank anything yet since throwing up yesterday, so he had her drink some gingerale and eat some saltines to see if she could keep it down. He does think after the symptoms she described that she did in fact have a migraine, but she also might have a virus too. Childhood migraines run in my family, so that is possible. She has been playing this evening but still doesn't quite feel like herself, so we are just watching her for now. She has also been fighting with her brothers so that is always a sign she is feeling better. It really pays to have a doctor in the family. He said they wouldn't have done anything for her in the ER anyway. She had a slight fever this evening, but no other symptoms other than her tummy hurts her a little.
So, I'm still worried, because I don't like to see my baby sick, but we are both feeling better this evening. Hopefully tomorrow she will feel completely like herself again.

Mommysusie: so sorry! I hope your little one has a better day tomorrow.

Ugh! I just found my first stretch marks. I know that sounds vain, but I escaped without them last time with DS, my mom doesn't have them, and I had just assumed I wouldn't get them. Yes, I know I am older. And I know that I haven't done as good a job taking care of my skin with lotion. I probably haven't even had enough to drink considering how blasted hot it is outside, but .., *whine*

Thanks for letting me share.

mommysusie: When I read your first post, I figured that it must be your 10 yo. I started getting migraines a couple of yrs before puberty, but oh, to be 7 and in that kind of pain.
I hope that they don't continue.

QOTP: I agree with the pp. Give yourself and ds a little time to get things figured out after the baby arrives. Its also nice for ds to have something very steady during the first few weeks of family adjustment after the baby is born, yk?

So, I talked to my MIL last night. She wanted to let me know when my shower is scheduled to take place. She also said that she printed off a few fitted diaper patterns from the internet to make for Baby. She's so sweet!

Quick question, how often do your babies have hiccups? I am feeling them after almost every meal and then I get nervous that our baby will have lots of allergies. Dh was allergic to EVERYTHING as far as environmental allergens when he was a kid and I have a couple of food allergies.

My baby gets hiccups at least once a day. Often two or three times a day. I've never heard of a connection between hiccups and allergies. Fetal hiccups are a good thing, they strengthen the breathing muscles and open up the lungs.

I haven't really paid attention, but definitely a few times a day. DS was the same, and no food allergies here.

I had my first bout of MAJOR leg cramps on the weekend. It totally sucked. I don't recall having them at all with ds. I've had a few here and there this time, mostly in the morning when I first wake up and stretch but on Saturday night they were so painful they kept waking me up. Then when I finally did wake up for the day my calves were so sore from cramping up all night
But I did get a nice foot and leg massage out of dh - and it was Father's day, isn't he swell?

I have checked a few times for stretch marks and still don't have any
but I too have not been so consistent with the lotion, and trying to drink lots of water but it's a struggle.

Other than that, I'm just over 33 weeks, I have 5 wks left of work (including this one) which is very exciting, then just over 2 wks til my due date.

I'm getting really excited to have this baby although I am having some major mood swings as well. I know it's hormones and ds has become quite the handful so I worry about being overwhelmed once this baby is born. Luckily my MIL is booking time off work to come and help, my SIL is a teacher and will be off in the summer and she LOVES to hang out with ds (he loves her so much too) and my mom will be here when she can (she lives farther away) I honestly worry about PPD this time around because I know how tiring taking care of a newborn can be - let alone not being able to nap and rest as much and taking care of a toddler. I have suffered from depression in the past, although not PPD with ds. So I welcome all the help I can get. My MIL is fantastic -she's great with ds and always does my dishes and laundry when she visits and makes me great healthy food with lots of fresh fruits and veggies. I'm very lucky

Hiccups have nothing to do with allergies. They are exercising their diaphragm for when they are born.

here's what i would do. i would take him out long-term to save $, but i would keep him in from now through the birth and for a couple of weeks after. that will give you time to focus on your own health (now) and the baby (for the first couple weeks) without making big brother feel ignored. the last two weeks of preschool might not be necessary if you are having a relative come after the baby is born to focus just on big brother.

My ds is in a home daycare and I'm taking him out. I know he would be sad and feel like he was being sent away and why does the new baby get to stay home with mama. Fortunately tho I will have relatives around for a couple weeks after baby is born so he will still get lots of attention. Depending on if he seems bored or not a few months down the line (I'm off for yr mat leave) I may put him in a preschool a couple days a week, but it's up to him.
