Hi. I live in south MS and I've never actually had a garden before. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"> I want to start one though and I know I'll have to wait til next year for most stuff now. What is there that I can plant now though if anything? Teach me gardeners!

broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, spinach, maybe some peas.

I just put in a bunch of plants that mature in less than 60 days or are cold-weather hardy. Kale is awesomely hardy and doesn't really mature until the first cold snap -- that makes it sweeter. Salad greens, especially small ones like a mesclun mix, radishes, and spinach should all do well.
