So we are new to Orlando "area"....Clermont to be exact. Well maybe not so new....we got down here in August, but it seems like we've just finally started to set in. It's been somewhat of a rough start...we chose this area because the school system was supposed to be a good one, but my oldest dd (the only one in school so far) is having a really tough time of it. I can admit to you all (although I'd never say it to her lol) that I'm not so fond of the school myself. But I'm trying to make it positive for her. I figured that maybe by getting her reinvolved in activities she loved back home it may make her feel more comfortable. I was ready to sign her up for girl scouts....but there's no troop leader for her age group. I could be a leader (I was back home) but I have other children and no "back up plan" down here...taking my younger ones along for the ride wouldn't always be feasible so I had to decline...needless to say there's still no troop for her age group down here. I wanted to get her signed up for horseback riding (two things my daughter loves more than anything in her life are horses and dancing) but I can't find a stable with riding lessons anywhere in this area. So I looked into dance classes...apparently school isn't the only thing that starts early in Florida...the dance classes did too and we pretty much missed the boat on that one. So I'm stuck....I'm trying to find playgroups or some sort of opportunities to get her, as well as my other daughter more involved and out of this "stuck in the house" rut we've gotten ourselves into since coming down here. The trick is I'm not even sure where to start looking for something like that lol...if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful!

Additionally, I was curious to know if there was anyone near this area who knew of a ped that was ok with nonvaxers? Our first (and only thus far) trip to the ped was disastrous...I don't want to return to that office...my daughter doesn't want to return to that office. There are plenty of other options for docs in the area I was just hoping that maybe someone had some info that could help me narrow down the search more quickly than checking them out one by one

hi!
we live in winter park, I recommend dr cannizzarro for nonvax'ers, it's who we see, he's in longwood though we drive far to see him but he's well worth it!! he's very natural parenting and about to expand his practice to chiropractic care, accupressure/puncture holistic etc. Also I wanted to invite you to join a local AP parenting group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/apcfl where you'll find lots of mom's in cleremont and surrounding areas as well as all over central florida. It's a great resource, and has lots of information there

I live in Apopka....not too far from Clermont...how old is your DD? I second the Dr. Cannizzarro rec...I don't use him (doesn't take my insurance) but I have a friend who does....I have 3 kids (6, 4.5 and 2.5)..we have been here almost a year and a half. I do know someone who's child is taking riding lessons..I will try to find out where that is...sorry this is sort of rambling, I am distracted right now...
