Hi ladies! My name is Toni, and I have a 3 1/2 year old son, Julian, who was diagnosed at the age of 16 months with Mosaic Partial Trisomy 1p. Meaning, 1/3 of his cells have an extra piece of chromosome. He was the 15th reported case in the U.S. at the time. There is no way to tell how it will affect him physically and mentally until it happens. As of now physically he is regular height for his age, but weighs only about 26 pounds and it is a fight daily to get him to eat. Mentally, he is roughly around a two year olds state of mind, and below that in terms of speech. On a good day, he can put two words together.
We also have a little girl, Lucy, who is 9 months old and perfectly healthy and is soon to outweight her brother :)
I was very very happy to find this forum, I think it will be a great place to get some good advice from people who understand our daily struggles:

Welcome! Is he on the growth scale weight wise? I just wondered if they had ever suggested tube feeding. Dealing here with three years of feeding issues (no tube...though they wanted to close to two) and sometimes I am just so tired and frustrated. I'm sure you understand.

Thank you all :)

Rachelle ~ At our last doctors appointment he was around the 3% on weight. They've never suggested a feeding tube, just high calorie foods, and lots of pediasure. It's *horribly* frustrating, sometimes I can't help but think he knows at a certain point we'll give him whatever he wants (fruit snacks, candy, ice cream) so he holds out But sometimes it just takes going through literally everything we have in the house to find something he'll eat. We also keep him on a daily vitamin. We just keep our fingers crossed that *maybe* his appetite will eventually pick up.

Welcome! My daughter was diagnosed when I was about 6 months pregnant with Mosaic Triploidy. She sounds very similar to your son, the doctors have no idea what will happen developmently until it happens since it is so rare. She is 12 months old and weighs 12 pounds.

I am usually a lurker, but it was comforting to hear of someone with a silimar diagnosis.
