We live in a house that is about 2300 sq ft, with lots and lots of large windows, it's wonderful, except they are all old single pain glass, I think I am literally heating the neighborhood.

Is there some sort of calculator for the energy/heating/cooling costs that we can look up so we can factor that into the cost?

These windows are going to cost big bucks and I'd feel better with actual numbers not just "they will save us money" I know they will, we would go with double pain low "e" argon filled windows but still the price... ouch.

I looked everywhere for that info, and never found it. I did however have a window guy tell me "windows all lose heat, what you want is a well insulated wall" - and we still have single pane glass but we insulated the walls and attic, and that's going to pay for itself pretty soon. Next up, the windows...

I've heard that you can have someone come to your house & evaluate how energy efficen your windows & insulation are working & test the air quality. You don't want a sealed box because then the air isn't healthy nor do you want to heat the neighborhood. I wish I knew who you could call. I'll try to find out.
