Hi, I'm new here. Like I need another place to spend all my time online!! I am a grad student in Iowa and we are ttc our first child. I'm also a doula, so I'm already pretty immersed in natural pregnancy/parenting/birth, etc, and we plan to have a homebirth, cloth diaper, babywear, all that good stuff. We've just <a href="http://www.iowansforchildbirthoptions.org" target="_blank">started a group to advocate for the legalization of CPMs in Iowa.<br></a><br>
I'm a PhD student in education and my husband and I just finished up our master's degrees. We have 3 cats and fish/frogs. I'm here to hang out with other like minded women. Most of the pregnancy/parenting boards I'm familiar with are not my style... for ttc it's not so bad but I know once I'm pregnant my choices will seem wacky to 99% of the people on FF boards, etc.<br><br>
Nice to finally be here! Hopefully I'll have a really good reason to subscribe to the magazine soon instead of buying it off the stands.<br><br>

HI and Welcome! Good luck with TTC (there are plenty of women here happy to obsess with you over possible pregnancy symptoms, if you are like me, and enjoy that kind of thing!).<br><br>
Please do also come down to the Case Against Circumcision forum, as well. As a doula, you are probably already aware of the harm caused by circumcision, but we can always use another advocate for little boys.<br><br>

Have no fear, I am anti-circ. I think it's great that there isn't even a "pro-circ" possibility here. That's so fantastic. My husband and I have already agreed not to circ our boys.

I'm from the Waterloo area. I've been lurking for quite a while, but I'm just an occasional poster.<br><br>
Sweet angels, do you plan on having someone attend your homebirth? I attempted a midwife-assisted homebirth with my DS, but ended up transferring after 12 hours due to ineffective contractions and no urge to push. I'd love to do it again (the homebirth, of course, not the transfer!), but I won't be able to afford my previous midwife. I'd love to hear what your plans are.<br><br>
