Okay - so CDing for my home daycare, and deciding a few things...

1) Snaps irritate me - ESPECIALLY when I have to snap the diaper and THEN snap the cover as well....

2) Although infant prefolds are capable of being trim, I just CANNOT make premiums trim enough for my liking....

3) Fleece liners ROCK - her little bum is literally BONE dry despite a soaking diaper and 3 hours in a pocket, etc.

SO - I had been thinking about mostly wool, pfs, and fitted for my newbie, but now I'm thinking.....

1 dozen preemie prefolds
1 dozen fitteds
1 dozen AIOs/pockets

Assortment of covers including longies (1 or 2), soakers (1), wool (1 or 2), fleece (1 or 2) and pul (whatever else is needed) covers.

How many COVERS does a newborn need? Will I need more dipes, or will 36 do?

This is way more than I can type: http://diaperpages.com/newborn.php

I think your plan sounds great! I think with a breastfed newborn you'll need probably 4 on the lightest side of PUL covers or 8 on the heavier side. 4 PUL is kind of my minimum because I just haven't had so much luck keeping wool as clean as easily. Congrats on your new babe on the way! I'm due in Dec, too!

have you thought of bummis whisper pants as a cover over a nb diaper? I use a nb whisper pant over my daughter's kissaluvs 0 -- and she still fits it nicely at over 2 months old! Thats one less set of snaps, though, and I like how easy it is to pull on and off.

If you are looking for one I've got one listed in the FSOT section of diaperpin. :LOL

My dd (3mths) has been using 20-25 diapers a day since she was 1mth old and that with only poo'ing every other day. We have 50 diapers between prefolds, aios, snap-in and fitteds and there have still been several times where I've been reaching for the one-sizes and premium prefolds becuase we're out of diapers again! and we wash almost everyday. So you may want to have more than 36 diapers

I'm thinking some AIO's like a bum-ware might be good. I think we're going to go with kissaluv 0's and bum-ware AIO's for the bulk of our itty bitty stash and then move to 90% bum-ware AIO's for 10lbs and up. Easy all the way around.. no fuss. I like the quick dry best with fleece on the soaker so I don't have to mess with liners. I too get irritated really quickly with too many snaps and most of the time find even messing with a cover is a hastle once the baby is wiggly. We're all about AIO's around here I guess.
