some help please...
my 3 week old has a very red, rough, dry bottom
she seems like a heavy wetter and more sporadic pooper-
i am using prefolds during the day and kissaluvs at night, she is almost always soaked through, even with frequent changes. i only use wet wash clothes to clean her- just water
it does not seem to bother her, but of course i don't like the looks of it
any suggestions?
thanks

You might try some Weleeda or other natural baby creme and see if that helps.

I'd say to initially take advantage of the nice weather and let her air out with nothing on outside to begin to get a handle on the redness. The next thing would be to try out fleece stay dry liners inside your diapers, next to her skin. How frequent is frequent changing to you? You might need to change even more often than you already are. What kind of covers are you using? Maybe your system is not allowing for her to breath enough down there. Are you sure you're washing all detergent residue out of the diapers? Detergent build up will definitely lead to rashes. There are tons of barrier and healing creams and balms out there too, if you want to topically apply something. I think you're smart to use only water in her wipes while she's red b/c adding anything to make a wipe solution might just irritate her brand new skin further. Remember she is brand new....new baby skin is ohhhh soooo sensitive.
