My pants were getting tight at that point too. I miscarried my first at 10 weeks, so this pregnancy is following that one and I understand how scary it is so
. It sucks to have the full joy of pregnancy stolen from you from the very start, it really does. It's SO scary trying to get through the next pregnancy. The odds are in your favor...they kept telling me that and I kept thinking they were in my favor the first time too...but it really is true.

I really was up 2 bra sizes by the end of the first trimester, it happened fast for me. I had a good belly going and was up a size by 6-7 weeks and in some early maternity stuff by 10 weeks. I didn't look pregnant yet, but it was just more comfy.

I also never once threw up but I was nauseous and that qualifies as full on morning sickness all on it's own

Nausea IS morning sickness. you don't nec. have to be vomiting, thank goddess!

At 7 weeks, imagine beng bloated like period time, times two, since you've had two cycles worth of stuff accumulating in there, and you're likely retaining water.

Hormones also will tend to make you worry more. Sounds like your hormones are in fine shape! ; )

My hips started expanding around 8 weeks. And only elastic waisted things fit me at that point. I was fully in maternity clothes by 12 weeks. You also could have bloating, gas and bowel distension, all very normal in a healthy, normal pregnancy.

Also, I only briefly had nausea (and very mild at that). It lasted a week at most. I generally say I had no morning sickness. I hate hate hate that they tell you something could be wrong because of that! While it's true that in our culture, where morning sickness is the norm, that there is a slightly higher miscarriage rate among women who don't experience it, in some cultures morning sickness is rare. The fact that you're having some nausea indicates a well and properly implanted embryo.

You probably can see a practitioner if you want. An early ultrasound might help calm your fears and in this case, the benefit (relaxed mommy) might outweigh the risks. Also, you could have your blood drawn to see how much hcg is in your system, if the numbers are in the normal range that might reassure you too.

Thanks for the advice. I know that I'm just going to drive myself nuts over this, but that's okay. I'm not stressing too much and I'm trying to emphasize that I will have a healthy pregnancy. I still focus on the ifs a little too much, but I think it will be better with time.

It's a relief to see that I'm not the only one with just nausea. My good friend is PG and she's battling MS like crazy. She told me that her DR said that if you don't have MS it means you don't have good hormones and that the placenta is not developing strongly. She may have told me that because she was feeling uncharitable when I told her I was just nauseated from time to time or the Dr was just trying to make her feel a little better about her constant MS. I don't know...

I think you're pretty accurate in your suggestions hilary. *To be graphic* I've been clearing the room after a meal...even the dog won't stay around me.
I've also gained a lot of weight right from the beginning. I was a little underweight and I think my voracious and insatiable appetite was just my body's way of getting me to where I need to be. DH is only thrilled with the weight I've gained in the top and bottom...so he's happy and I'm not self-conscious...just wish all of my expensive work clothes still fit.

to quote Plantmommy "Nausea IS morning sickness. you don't nec. have to be vomiting"

So you ARE having it!! And I wouldn't call that remark from your friend uncharitable, I'd call it downright mean. Her dr. may have told her that (as a way to comfort her in her misery), but that doesn't make it a nice thing to repeat to a nervous and newly pregnant mom!!!

You're going to be fine. I was ravenously hungry too. I got lectured for gaining too much weight at my 2nd visit with the midwife because I was SOOOOOOO hungry all the time. Of course now my weight gain has slowed and I'm well within the normal range, and probably even on track for the 20lbs they told me was ideal for me to gain (I was just slightly overweight when I got pg).

I hear you on the clothes, it was tough from 8-12 weeks. I barely got by.

I have to agree. I felt nauseous twice when I was pregnant with ds and both times were something completely unpregnancy related (motion sickness and WAY too much fat from melted cheese). I haven't had anything this time around either, though it's still early, and I doubt I will. I remember hearing when I was pregnant with ds that morning sickness just makes it more likely the baby will be fine but not getting it doesn't mean that anything is wrong.

I always said and felt that I didn't have morning sickness with my DD, first pregnancy....then I got pregnant a second time and had a total absence of nausea and started thinking about that need to start each day with a peppermint tea (they need an smilie for bells going off :LOL). So now, in hindsight I do feel I experienced some morning sickness with DD...I guess that's why they say hindsight is 20/20. I had a m/c with my second pregnancy at 8 weeks, like I said before I had not a touch of nausea and I didn't experience any growth in chest size either...so I definately think that you are having some good signs this time! This third pregnancy felt well planted from the beginning but I do know what the worry was like especially in the first trimester.

With my first I never threw up, had only mild nausea, and a pretty easy pregnancy (except for serious exhaustion in the first trimester). This time around, it looks like it will be the same. I have had an u/s and we saw the heart beating away, so i'm feeling pretty good about the stickyness. Today was as nauseated as I've felt so far, and I was still able to eat three meals today. Just a touch of the queasies this morning.

I really think each person and each pregancy is different, and no morning sickness does *not* mean an unhealthy pregnancy. Even if your symptoms go away for a few days or diminish, it is not neccesarily a cause for worry. Mine did about three weeks ago, and I was so stressed out for days. Then I'd get a touch of breast pain here, a wave of nausea there, and I realized that everything was still okay.

I have been pregnant 3 times and have never puked because of nausea/"morning sickness". I HAVE puked because I stuck my toothbrush too far back in my mouth, because of motion sickness (dh is not the most predictable driver), and because I truely believed I had to down 2 quarts of water in 10 minutes for an ultrasound.

I will say that I get nauseous (sp?) sometimes, but it is more that my sense of smell and equilibrium is hegthened and I am just more sensitive.

I have always thought this notion of full blown m/s = healthy pregnancy to be a bit absurd.

Oh, and I also started pooching early. I am 18 weeks and I have two pair of Gap khakis I can still wear, but they were big in the waist to begin with. Otherwise, I look about WAY more pregnant than I should (my boss asked if I was having twins
: )

I am sure everything is fine

As someone who is currently typing this from my laptop in a hospital bed due to severe morning sickness, I'd be willing to place money on the fact that your friends doctor told her that to make her feel better about her morning sickness-I think it's the standard silver lining thing to tell the mama who is so sick she can't think straight anymore.
