Attachment Parenting group hosts "Spring Sling Fashion Show"
Ring slings and pouches and wraps... oh my!
A growing number of parents are realizing the benefits of
"babywearing"; the practice of carrying a baby or young child in a
carrier or sling. Worn babies cry less and learn more, and the
ancient tradition nurtures the bond between parent and child. Beyond
the carriers found in baby megastores, there are a myriad of safe and
fashionable options for all body types, baby personalities, and style
preferences. In addition, many types of carriers can be worn in
multiples positions; facing in or out, supported by one shoulder or
two, and held on the front, back, or hip. The choices can be
overwhelming!
Join Attachment Parenting International of Merrimack Valley (APIMV)
as we explore the different types of baby carriers available, and
find the one that's right for you. Members of the organization will
bring their favorite carriers for a "Spring Sling Fashion Show"
during the group's regularly scheduled May meeting times. Attendees
will be invited to try various carriers and ask questions of the
parents who use them. All meetings are free and open to all parents
and caregivers.
The first APIMV Spring Sling Fashion Show will be held on Friday,
May 8th at 1:00 pm in meeting space donated by Nini Bambini, 166
South River Road in Bedford. The second show will be held on
Wednesday, May 27th at 10:00 am in meeting space donated by Holy
Cross Episcopal Church, 118 Center Road in Weare. For directions or
more information, please contact Melanie at 529-8176.
APIMV is affiliated with Attachment Parenting International, a 510(3)
(c) non-profit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee. Its
mission is to educate and support all parents in raising secure,
joyful, and empathic children in order to strengthen families and
create a more compassionate world. The local group meets on second
Fridays in Bedford and fourth Wednesdays in Weare, and organizes
playgroups and activities for all parents interested in Attachment
Parenting. More information can be found at www.apimv.org.
