Hospitals are supposed to be places for birthing women to go to prevent disasters. Doctors are supposed to be trained to handle problems. In decades gone by, I do recall that a birth like this would be handled with high forceps in the 50s which has its own set of complications. Today it is a caesarean section or a zavanelli procedure.

And doctors have not been trained for a long time in handling a sacral or footling delivery. Some midwives know. The problem with a breech birth is the reason the baby is like that - in this case it was premature which carries its own set of complications.

This is sad.
