I was wondering if anyone on this board does Nia? It is extremely popular here in Boulder, CO, and wondered if this was just a "Boulder" thing or countrywide.

For those that have never heard of it, Nia is a combination of dance, martial arts and yoga:

http://nianow.com/index.php

I have only been doing it since September, but as an ex-dancer it was pretty easy for me to get into. But it has changed my life, after nine years of not exercising at all, I am getting back into pretty good shape and I am having so much fun. I just wish I could do it more than just three times a week, but as a homeschooling mama, squeezing in more classses is a stretch.

So any other MDC Nia fans?

I've done it and I really loved it.
Unfortunately it has NOT taken off in Atlanta, so classes are really limited and I have not been able to fit them in my schedule.

I don't really like the main teacher, either.. I found her very cold. And.. (this is bizarre) her studio is in a haunted building that gives me the creeps.

I keep hoping it will get more popular here so there will be a bigger variety of classes.
I would love to do it again, it was really fun and expressive.

What a shame. It is so popular here that even the rec centers can fill up several classes a week. We also have at least two studios that concentrate on Nia, they do offer yoga and other dance classes. We also have some great teachers here in Boulder.
