Her daughter turns 3 today, and this quote was in a birthday post I read. I think she nursed until 14 months, if I remember correctly. Anyway, I had missed this quote the first time around:

Quote:
Breastfeeding is undoubtedly the best thing you can do for your baby. It took a lot of persevering through the early weeks because my daughter didn't latch on properly and it really hurt; but I'm happy I stayed with it because not only do I have a special bond with my child, but it's easy now and is also extremely healthy.
And her husband David, on NIP:

Quote:
It gets really crazy because Courteney's actually breastfeeding and she'll whip it out anywhere. It's kinda weird. We're having meetings, she's like, 'Excuse me,' (and takes her breast out). Moms Gone Wild! But her boobs are just gorgeous. They're so big, but it's like this cosmic joke because they're huge but they're not for me!
Nice except for the 'kinda weird!'

Well, unfortunately in our culture, it is "kinda weird" because not many women BF, and NIP is still villified in the US.
I think all in all it is a pretty good quote, he sounds like my husband (with the comment about them being so big and wonderful but not for him).
Wasn't there another post about his sister and it was mentioned that he (David) actually bf'd until he was four??? Hmmm, you would think he would remember bfing himself so it wouldn't be "kinda weird".

Actually, I am fine that he said it was kinda wierd. It is for some people and while I would never coddle the people who are uncomfortable, the quote implies that (to him) it doesn't matter if it's wierd.

And it shouldn't matter to anyone else. I also liked how he finds them attractive but that they aren't for him.

He's comical, for him to say something is wierd is what I would expect because it probably wasn't hostile, just his way of expressing the newness of it.

Yup!

I don't mind that he said 'kinda weird' either, I was referring to both the quotes being overwhelmingly positive except for that one sentence. I like that they were both so open about it.

I would suspect that the "kinda weird" was thrown in for the benefit of the interview audience. Almost a courtesy, or a way of saying "look, I'm not all that different from you". I do that sometimes when I'm talking about something I do that's totally normal to me (like some of my food choices) but which realistically is not normal for whoever I'm talking to. It's just a way of bridging philosophical differences in a friendly, casual manner.
