I found this on Perez Hilton's blog.

"Australian media is reporting that Nicole Kidman's father is planning to deliver her child with the help of her mother, as they did for Nic's sister Antonia.

Antony Kidman is a mental health specialist but not a medical doctor. His wife, Janelle, is a trained nurse.

Will they be able to giver her an epidural????

Screw natural. Bring on the painkillers!"

http://perezhilton.com/page/2/

I think it is pretty cool. Heck, I'd rather my dad deliver my baby than the OBs around here, lol.

Now if Perez Hilton would only grow up, and quit it with the epidural comments

Don't know how cool I'd be with my Daddy between my legs, but to each her own, I suppose.

Yeah. I dunno. He may have seen my 'gina when I came out of my mom's, but it's been more than just a couple of years since he last saw it.

I dunno, my Dad filmed my Ds's entire birth. That's not delivery, I know, but he was right up there, so to speak. Not a big deal for me really.

It's an interesting idea. Whatever she does I wish her well.

Wow, it's a medical miracle! I'd have another baby if I could get my dad to deliver it for me, too. I'll be in the lounge sipping margaritas, thanks...

It's not as bad as one would think. My Dad and Mom "assisted" me in delivering my first four children. All at home. And although I was a bit uneasy with the first for a few minutes, it did not last long, and they were wonderful experiences, over all.

I think it is a great idea, if it realy happens.

That's really lovely that they were there for you this way.

It seems like a fine idea if the people involved are comfy enough with one another. Family being there for each other and helping bring new life into the world and the family seems like a touching thing to me.

OK, good for her and everything, and I wish her well, but. . .for me the thought of my dad between my legs delivering my baby is just ewwwwwwwww.

eta: I think I have issues with this because of the fact that my dad and I were not at all close when I was growing up.

I think it's awesome. I don't have a relationship with my dad so it wouldn't happen with me but I just don't view it as daddy between my legs kind of thing. I think it is absolutely wonderful they are both comfortable with that!

Taking pictures, ok. Helping deliver, not so much.

However, I am very happy for Nicole

My dad's a doctor and I'd much rather have him deliver a baby of mine than have my mother even present in the room. He's calming and helpful, her not so much. Besides, doesn't pretty much everybody have the total loss of modesty there near the end?

Kudos to Nicole - she must be really excited.

My dad would love to be with me when I delivered a baby. I was in labour for 3 days with ds and he came to the hospital 6 times (brought coffee for ex etc) It was good, except the time be brought my grandpa. Sorry, grandpa when you are in labour is NOT GOOD.

I think if I was single I would want my dad to be there.

My brother was official mirror-holder as I pushed out my dd, and he and my stepdad were both present and very involved in the birth of my nephew. Freaked the nurses at my sister's hospital birth out a bit, but for those that know my family it's perfectly normal.
