I see a lot of people posting about the troubles of nighttime EC. Ds holds it for a lot of the night, I think, but he is a heavy nurser and will soak two diapers by morning, so we do a 5 am change. That is usually traumatic, because I think it wakes him up and he cries and wants me and squirms. In this way, I think he is ready for EC at night. However, our house is really cold at night (we can't sleep if it's hot), and I can't imagine that he will relax enough to pee outside of the bed during the night. How do people handle that.

He seems to be on a bit of a potty strike right now anyway, so it's currently moot, but I am hoping that will change.

My DS sleeps nakey bum on a pee-mat. I have a plastic gatorade bottle that he pees in while nursing. At first he would pee before nursing, then it was during nursing and now it's nearly always just after nursing. It works well for us, and we don't have night-time potty strikes even when the day isn't going well.

I keep a potty by the bed and just pull ds straight from the lambskin she sleeps on to my chest (potty between legs) then back down. Since she usually waits until after nursing, I slowly pull the covers back while she's nursing so the temperature change isn't so big. Just don't let that nakey bum touch the cold plastic potty .
