nighttime progress

our dd, 5 months old, has been ECing for 6 weeks now, and is doing GREAT. So well that I think she might be ready for diaper free nights. the past 2 nights, she has had a dry diaper from 10pm to 4am, when she had a big pee, then dry again until 8 am.

Any advice on good bed pads to use? She sleeps in our bed so I will be sleeping on it, too.

great news that you and your little one are doing so well! for us, night time just kind of happened when ds (now nearly 8 months, ec'd from 6 months) kept pulling at his diaper and wouldn't fall asleep.

i bought a waterproof crib pad at walmart for like $8 that i used between the mattress pad and sheet, however it made ds sweat at night. anything i have tried to lay him on makes him sweat, so i started going with nothing. there has only been 3 occassions where he has peed in the bed. the first two were just little warning type pees that didn't even get the mattress pad wet. the third was just this weekend when we were out of town. i contribute that to being out of our element, etc.

i think if i had to go back to using something, it would be a doubled towel between the sheet and the mattress pad.

ds sleeps without a diaper or undies. when he wakes to nurse if i think he has to pee i take him. i nurse him while he sits on the bblp. more often then not anymore he won't go. there have been nights that are totally dry, and others that he pees one of the times i take him. he always pees a lot in the morning.

hope this helps!

I use www.childrensneeds.com 's nighttime organic EC pad. it works well for us.
Thanks for the input. I have been thinking of sewing up a couple made of felted wool blankets, with towels in the middle for absorption and a fleece top. But it seems like a lot of work. That EC pad looks pretty good.
I have a waterproof mattress pad for our bed and I also have a wool mattress pad that I use for my son's bed.
We happened to have one of those egg carton cushion things under our sheets and I soon realized that they are pee repellant (proof). So even though they're not made for it, they're great for protecting your mattress regardless of what you put over your sheets to soak up misses.
