ok latch on hurt BAD for the first 10 or 11 weeks, then started to get better....and was actually "no pain" for a while. I hit 16 weeks yesterday and for the last week -- so 15.5 on -- nurseing hurts again. latch on feels like a bite, and the sucking hurts about 60% of the time.

he still acts like he is getting milk as much as he expects. he isn't fighting it or fussy or mad acting. his nurseing behaviuors have shifted a little more day time food intrest = les day time nurseing and thus more night time nurseing (no i am NOT happy i was hopeing he'd give up night nurseing -- )

i still can express milk even after he nurses -- by hand no less.

i am drinking a lot of water........

so what gives?

just another hormaonal thing? or what?

That would be my guess! Apparently it's not unusual to have problems with nursing while pregnant. There's a thread on the December DDC right now.

Weird, I have felt like my nipples are on fire this week - DS weaned a few weeks into this preg (hes almost 4) and I was FINE with it...he seems to be doing ok as well, he has asked a few times, and I've let him try, and OUCH. I admire all the nursing through preg mamas out there!

The worst feeling is no bra on but having a shirt rub. ooh. the pain. I dont remember any issues at all with ds preg or all my mc (as far as boobs go)

My nipples hurt something awful, too. I think DD is close to being done, and in a way I'm relieved! I hate feeling like I want to run screaming when she asks to nurse.

The other night, DH and I, well...uhh..ya know...and I told him not to even think about getting near them or "it" would be over. immediately.

Great to know it is not just me! I have never nursed while pregnant cuz, my other two were 3yrs apart and weaned. But thins time they are a yr closer and DS is nursing a ton! Like every hr if I let him.: Than last week my nipples got so raw. Oh it feels like he is biting them off!!!!: He is nursing like normal for him and if I need a break he cries and sereams while trying to rip off my shirt. I feel so guilty and nurse him anyway! I just cannot wean him. I never weaned any of them. Just let them do it on thier own. But man OWEEEEEEEEEEE!

i guess i am lucky :0 it is not as bad as any of you descrid and not nearly as bad as the poor momma in the Dec DDC.

it hurts, and if he catchs me off gaurd it really hurts. but i can handle it and i don't have any deisire to wean him ot cut him off. i do have to tell him he is done, after about 15 to 20 minuteds, at night cuz for some reason he won't jsut stop himself and put his head down like he always has before.....but actually after he gets nurseing for a while the pain is mostly gone, latch on and the first minutes are what really hurt.

no creepy crawly feelings.

just a concern with him nuresing every two hours on the dot all night -- what am i gonna do with a new born too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

waiting to see what will happen when the milk changes to colsutrum -- HOW DO YOU KNOW

Feeling the same way over here Aimee. When she latches on, I can handle the first 30 seconds only through sheer grit my teeth concentration. It's fine after that. The problem is when she decides to latch on for 10 seconds, pop off, latch on, pop off, and on and on and on, and then I get to experience it over and over again. This is very popular during and mommy and daughter bath time, so I'm thinking of handing over bath duties to DH. There's still milk there, but she is showing less interest so I'm hoping she just reduces her nursing somewhat (we've had 3 morning wakings in a row without nursing now - never happened before) but not entirely.

I am having the same problems wih nursing my son and I hope that he self weans himself self within the next few months. I literally flinch everytime he latches. He is not showing any signs of slowing down yet and he in fact is increasing his night time feedings due to teething.
