No baby yet...not in labor, either

I swear that is how I'm answering the phone these days.
Or when I have to leave a voicemail for someone or when I call someone. Then I explain that we aren't exactly doing anything to encourage this baby to come for a little longer--if she'd wait a week or two, that would be so much better for us. Besides, I have a few weeks until she is "past due", and she is the easiest she will be to take care of in her life right now, so I don't mind so much. And she'll come when ready, right? I still can't wrap my mind around the fact she'll be here soon, though. Does not seem possible that she's about done cooking.

Anyone else having to stave off the "nosy Nellies" that want to know if baby is here? I just get the "disappointment" out of the way straight away.

talked to my sister yesterday. She started the conversation with "So are you in labor?"
Yea cause i'd answerr the phone if I were...
Yeah I'm still working and getting very sick of the "still here" comments. Oh and then my friend likes to IM me in the morning and say "no baby yet?". I know she means well, but really I told her already she'll know via text or facebook or something when the baby is here!!!!

I like your attitude 2lilsweetfoxes. I'm going to try to let it rub off on me. The baby is the easiest to take care of right now, this is very true. I even slept pretty well last night!
Only my dad, which is a little wierd. He's calling every single day now asking, "How are you feeling? Any signs of anything happening?"
: I finally told my DH yesterday that I don't want to talk to my dad and that Dh can tell him I'm doing fine. It's not that I dislike talking to my dad either, it just got annoying. I think it might be because last time he was so taken by surprise. Ds was born 16 days early and my dad had no idea that we were having a homebirth. He just got a call one morning saying baby was here. "Are you at the hospital?" "No, we're at home, baby just arrived and he and Joni are doing fine"

I have thought about changing my answering machine msg, but right now I have a msg on there that my (then 2yo) DS recorded with me and it's sweet and I don't want to erase it.

My mom thought it funny that I called her a few times last week when things were starting to happen just to give her a heads up (she's caring for DD while in labor). Then since she's heard I'm dialated to a 3 she's called everyday just asking the above same thing...You'd think after 4 kids she'd know you can be dialated at 3 for weeks....

My mom usually doesn't carry her cell phone with her, just leaves it in the house, but the other day I called her and she was out working in the garden. She said she's carrying it with her everywhere so she doesn't miss 'the call'!

Every time I call her, I know she is wondering, so I try to quickly make it clear why I'm calling her so she doesn't suffer from suspense for long.

A lot of people ask when the baby is coming and I always say, 'well could be tonight, could be in 5 weeks'

I think it reminds people that the baby being 'due' is such a huge range, its not just the edd.

I"m getting the excact thing too. Most everyone justs texts me a line "feeling anything yet?" "baby yet" "doing ok still" ect...

And my mom (the NON texter) called me this morning to make sure it was OK for her to go to some shopping 30 minutes away, she didn't want me to go into labor, and miss my call to help with my other kids. LOL
The other day I called my mom and she didn't answer and so I just hung up. When she saw that I'd called she called back and thought I was in labor....she's done this sooo many times already and I keep telling her if I'm in labor I'll leave a stinkin' message!!!
I'm not even due until Saturday and I've already gotten a ton of phone calls, emails, Facebook messages...

What I find particularly funny is how people try to cover it up...they call to ask a silly question like "how much butter goes in that recipe you gave me again?" when I know full well they really just want to know if the baby has arrived or if I'm "feeling anything yet."

I try to take it lightly and as a compliment that they care so much about us that they're thinking about my labor even as much as I am
We also don't know if we're having a boy or a girl which I think adds to the suspense!

We hardly talk to DH's parents - maybe once a week if that - and my MIL called yesterday and DH didn't call her back and she thought we were in the hospital. She sent an e-mail this morning and when I wrote back she said she thought we were in the hospital yesterday
. I've told you that she is very standoffish, but she is the Grandmother of this baby and this is her first Grandbaby - did she really think we wouldn't let her know if I was in labor??????????????????????????
