I got a lot of my pocket diapers used. Most of them I've had no problem with. But some of them (all prints, of course) are not even remotely waterproof. As soon as she pees, her whole diaper is soaked. Now, I don't have a problem changing her regularly - but this has happened twice out in public, when I thought she was okay for 2-3 hours.....

Is there any way to make them waterproof again? They are still sticky on the inside, so I don't know if I can fix them.....

Go to Walmart (or a sporting goods store) and buy some silicone waterproofing spray. I get the Atsko brand at Walmart, but I know Coleman makes one, and I've even seen one at Sears. Carefully spray the OUTSIDE of the dipe (i.e. the print side, not the inside of the pocket), making sure not to get any spray on the fleece or suedecloth inner. Spray it so it's really soaked. Lay it out to dry and once dry, toss it in the dryer for ten minutes or so. Voila! Works like new!

You'll probably have to do this pretty regularly... but it's easy, cheap and it works!

Good luck!

You might try getting a waterproofing spray, such as Camp Dry, or one in the same section, I can't remember the name of it but it has an orange lid. Turn the pocket inside out and spray a heavy coating of the waterproofing spray on the laminate of the PUL and hang it to dry for about 4 hrs. Then turn it rightside out, and spray the outside, all the way to the sides, it may possibly be wicking through the sides. Let cure on a clothesline for 24 -48 hrs, then toss in the drier to set.

OH, ONLY spray the stuff outside. And don't huff it...after it has cured, it should be odorless and safe to be around.

You may also try stuffing with more absorbancy.

I have that problem with print pockets too, usually after 6+ months of washing alll the time! I only get a little wicking around the leg, and so I dont bother re-proofing it because I am too lazy and just use those dipes around the house or under dresses or with a t-shirt (so that it isnt wicking onto pants!)

I used to re-proof them with nikwax, but the camp spray does work as well.

it is also important that whatever you are stuffing a pocket diaper goes RIGHT to the edges. I use a trifold (prefold) and I put my hand in the middle and sort of spread it out as I pull it out so that the prefold is touching the edges.

If you have a heavy wetter, the force of the urination could make it so the inner doesnt have time to absorb before it starts wicking through the stitching.
