How do you handle getting your haircut when you no-poo? Do you let the hairdresser wash your hair? Will having it shampooed make it hard to deal with afterwards?

Also, has anyone ended up changing their hairstyle because of no-pooing? I have babyfine, stick straight hair and it's currently about top of my collar length. I have bangs that are longish and sideswept so you can see my forehead. I find I don't want to use any product to keep my bangs the way they are supposed to go--so I've been living in headbands. (I can't stand my hair in my eyes). I don't want to do that much longer. I've been thinking that I should get my hair cut into regular bangs again to follow the pattern that they naturally grow in, and then no need for product. Anyone make similar decisions?

I typically get a trim with no wash. I prefer to get my curly hair cut dry so the hairstylist follows the curl pattern, so it works well.

Eh - I get it washed. My hairdresser knows that I no-poo, and she says that you can smell the vinegar when she wets my hair. (DH was right on that one.) My hair goes back to it's normal, no-poo state after one of my washings at home.

I let my hair guy wash it. I only get it cut twice a year so it's no big deal. I don't even talk about the fact that I don't use shampoo. I think he's clued in that I don't like hair products, he puts no shine stuff, hair spray or anything else in it after he's styled it.

My hair dresser never washes my hair when I get a cut. She simply wets it. I come in with it clean and she is fine with it.

Originally, I would have her just wash it, but I was finding that it would cause me to have dandruff and all kinds of other issues after that one washing. It would take me a week or more to get my hair "balanced" again. I finally asked her not to wash it and she remembers each time I go in.

As for hair style, I modified mine a bit, but that was just to get rid of the styling gel and hair spray I had been using. The natural oils in my hair, especially a day or two after a washing, is enough now and I don't need anything! I just changed the way my bangs were laying, but it wasn't a drastic change.
