We have been having a heck of a journey with this and I'm at the end of my rope. I'm sorry if anyone has read my other threads and that this is repeating.

DD has been "off" since last year. Her mood swings became crazy unbearable fits that left everyone in tears. We treated her with homeopathic remedies that seemed to help. Than they stopped helping.

In January she started complaining of stomach pain and since then we've been through three different diagnosis that are not solving the problem at all. I took her off any homeopathics in case that was causing the problem, but it didn't help. We've tried eliminating dairy and soy first. Than we got a script for Prevacid. Than a diagnosis of constipation based on an x-ray that showed some backup and negative bloodwork for celiac or h.pylori. All of her blood work came back fine, but no allergy testing was done. She has other symptoms as well as the stomach and behavior. She has constant circles under her eyes, complains of being itchy with no visible rash or irritation, at least once a week develops a rash on her privates and rear that looks like diaper rash, is generally a depressed little girl almost all the time, is refusing to eat but the bare minimum - even her favorite foods. She also started complaining of a new symptom last week, that her teeth were itchy. That one I don't get, but she may mean her gums or something else. She also had lost weight between January and February, almost 3 pounds and I think she has lost more since then, she looks so skinny to me and her clothes are just hanging on her.

They told me to give her miralax everyday to clear up the constipation and to put her back on a regular diet with no restrictions. We chose to delay the Miralax and treated with juices, increased water intake and epsom salt baths for the magnesium. She was still complaining of her stomach hurting, so we started the Miralax to see if she was still constipated. No improvement with any of this. Her behavior has gone downhill since going back on milk and soy and she is a basket case. It was actually scary tonight, she was hyperventillating to the point she was gagging while crying and screaming.

I'm so aggravated at everyone involved right now. The doctor's for focusing on constipation being the problem, WHEN IT IS NOT. She was not constipated when this started. She only got constipated when they had us try the prevacid, but no one will listen to me. DP because he accused me of making her crazy with all of these trips to the doctor and that *I* was causing her to be sick. He even accused me of wanting something to be wrong with her so I could obsess over it. My daughter has been perfectly healthy since an infant. I nursed her till she was 3.5 and gave her the best start at life that I could. Why in God's name would I WANT her to be sick? He is mistaking my mothering instincts for obsession and it has me majorly po'd that he won't support me in finding out what is wrong and is making me doubt my self and my ability to be a mother.

After tonight's episode, I need to do something to help her. I feel like I'm losing her to some mysterious "thing". According to DP, that "thing" is me. I'm going to take her back to the ped monday and demand allergy testing. Once that is done, I'm putting her on a completely gluten, wheat, dairy and soy free diet. She doesn't eat eggs as it is, or corn.

Thanks for listening (reading). I had to get this out to someone that may understand what I'm going through here. Thank God for MDC.

Hugs mama, it's hard when it's a big puzzle.

It sounds like you may be dealing with some nutrient deficiencies, and or sensitivities to food chemicals (for which there is no test).

Magnesium can really help with constipation, and for us, Epsom salts baths weren't nearly enough mag. I supp my 2.5 year old 250-300mg a day, and now he poops several times a day (he stopped pooping at all for 3 months at the beginning of this part of our journey a year ago). He also needs B6 to go along with that (it helps mag get into cells where it can be used). Eye circles and behavioral issues are also very often associated with low magnesium. And going back on dairy can make the problem worse, because the calcium in dairy prevents mag from being absorbed, making the mag deficiency worse. My son's mag needs doubled when we went back on dairy.

The itching could be a histamine reaction (sometimes to histamines in foods), and/or low methylation. Try getting a methyl B12 sublingual (we use Jarrow), and 2000mg of vitamin C a day (spread out over 3-4 doses). Vitamin C will bring down histamine levels in the blood, but it takes a few days to work. The methyl B12 will work faster - give 1/2 or 1 tab at a time, and see how she does. Some kids on this forum take several of the Jarrow ones a day.
