I'll be visiting NOLA from NYC in early January with my 2yo daughter. Any advice on things to do? We'll be staying near the children's museum, be solo most of the time, and won't have a car. I'm a New Yorker so walking miles isn't a big deal as long as it's safe and pedestrian friendly. Particularly anything outdoors as we obviously haven't been doing much of that lately. We were there last year but dd was so much younger that it wasn't so important to find activities.

Looking forward to the warm weather and actually getting a chance to break in the wrap I just got! Between pregnancy and the weather I've been doing so little babywearing and I miss it a lot.

I took my DD to NOLA last year when she was four. She enjoyed the children's museum, we could have spent a whole day there. You might want to show DS some Mr. Rogers episodes before you go - they have a whole Mr. Rogers exhibit. We also went to the aquarium, which she enjoyed. I took her for beignets at Cafe du Monde, but crazily, she didn't like them. No problem, I ate hers too!

The weather might be chilly... so, I agree the aquarium is a good destination. They've recently added an indoor play area for toddlers that she would probably love. The zoo would be another great destination, weather permitting. The streetcar is always a fun train ride type experience for kids, too. The streetcar St. Charles route takes you to Audubon park (near the zoo) and has outdoor playground equipment. You can also take the streetcar Canal Street route, with one transfer, to New Orleans City Park, which has an amusement area that's probably too old for her, but, a two year old would LOVE their Storyland exhibit - lots of fairytale (Alice in wonderland, etc.) character based slides, climbing equipment, etc. Hope you have a great time!
