Anyone have ideas for where to get some non-toxic wooden alphabet blocks? I just googled wooden alphabet blocks and came up with some recalls for unsafe paint. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:<br><br>
Please some ideas ... that are safe for the baby coming in April too.<br><br>
TIA!<br><br>

Check out <a href="http://www.tagtoys.com" target="_blank">http://www.tagtoys.com</a><br><br>
They may not have exactly what you're looking for (I didn't see a whole alphabet block set), but you may find something close...they have these:<br><br><a href="http://www.tagtoys.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=60" target="_blank">http://www.tagtoys.com/index.php?act...d&productId=60</a><br><br>
as well as an assortment of blocks and alphabet puzzles etc.<br><br>
They are a family buisness and made in the US (in CA I believe.) This isn't ever a guarentee of non-toxicity, but it's good to know.

We have the <a href="http://www.unclegoose.com/" target="_blank">Uncle Goose</a> ones and we love them. They are heirloom quality and come in their own canvas bag. They also make the same blocks in several languages other than English. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up"><br><br>
You can order them directly from UG or The Play Cottage has them.

Thanks for the link Eben'sMama, I think that I will get these for DS's birthday (we have exercised the holiday funds already).

We don't have these but I just saw them online the other day and thought they were awesome. I don't know if they're in your price range but here they are: <a href="http://www.maplelandmark.net/action.lasso?-database=mlwproducts1&-table=web&sku=76020&-response=detail.lasso&-search" target="_blank">http://www.maplelandmark.net/action.....lasso&-search</a> They're handmade in Vermont. The nice thing about getting an American made set like these or Uncle Goose is that I bet if you lose one you can ask the company to sell you the missing one.<br><br>
And in case you're wondering, we have <a href="http://www.oompa.com/baby-toys/item/VI2149/Vilac-Wooden-ABC-Blocks-w-Cart.html" target="_blank">this set</a> by Vilac. I got them used on eBay some time back for a fraction of the retail price.

We just got the Melissa and Doug set but I am not sure if they were on the recall list- we got them at BRU.

We have Uncle Goose blocks, too, and DS loves them. They are so well made. We have the English alphabet, German and the Hebrew Alef Bet.

We got some from <a href="http://www.landofnod.com/family.aspx?c=5030&f=525&q=blocks&fromLocation=Search&DIMID=400001&SearchPage=1" target="_blank">Land of Nod</a> last year and really like them. They're handpainted in Michigan and non-toxic.<br><br>
They were expensive, I think ($40) but have held up *really* well.
