X-posted in Vax forum.

When Dd1 was a newborn, we were getting WIC assistance for a few months & stopped because the food was really not the type of food we at (I know, beggars can't be choosers.....) but I remember that they pricked my finger to test my iron levels & I think they may have done that to Dd1 as well. They also weighed & measured her at our WIC visits.

I'm a single SAHM with 3 children & am considering WIC and food stamps since I am having money troubles with their father. I'm hesitant because Ds is not vaxed & likely won't be ever & I am worried that the government will get into my business about it. We get medical assistance & I don't want to jeopardize that.

Does anyone know if his vax record will come up if I apply for WIC or food stamps?

WIC uses a child's vax record as a form of ID. You can refuse to produce it. If you go to the vax forum there will be more people that can help you there.

I never had to show vaccination records for food stamps or WIC. I am surprised that they have not bothered you about it for the medical assistance though. It really bothers me how, when you recieve public assistance, they attempt to control how you choose to raise your child. Good luck.

I have both WIC and food stamps and we don't vax. I told them I don't vax for religious purposes and asked if I would be discriminated against because of it, they said no and never brought it up again.

No you dont have show anything for foodstamps but your income and WIC is dont say nothing if you explain why you don't vax. But I know if you do vax then they ask for your shot records to make sure you are update on them.

In Florida, not vaxing has no bearing on food stamps or WIC or medicaid, but if you get cash assistance from the state, you have to show immunizations (not sure if a religious exemption would get you out of it...probably would). It might vary a bit state by state, but I've been on WIC in Wisconsin and it was the same there...

HTH!!
