Hi- I want to know if my daughter's behavior and milestones are on track and what expectations I should have for her.

She has no interest in walking on her own. She likes to walk along stuff but only if it's to get cheerios. If she wants to get somewhere, she crawls like a pro. It also seems like her legs and balance just aren't there with walking yet. Should I try something new to encourage her to walk or just let her be?

She says mum, dada, and makes about 10 animal sounds and signs, but no other words yet. Normal?

I guess that's about all that I'm concerned about in this area. Please also respond to my thread in the gentle discipline forum regarding questions I have regarding defiance...

I swore that DS would never walk on his own. He cruised along the furniture, walls, for months. Then one day he just took off. He has never fallen down while walking, just took off perfectly. I realize that is his personality, just laid back like that. Will she push a cart or something around? Either way, at 15 months, I wouldn't be worried. I think the amount of words and signs she uses is within the normal range as well. Is your mama intuition telling you that something is amiss? Or are you comparing her to other kids her age and wondering?

Thanks for the input. She SOMETIMES will push something around but needs help. I am wondering for 2 main reasons: 1- it doesn't seem like she has the strength in her legs that she needs and her cousin was recently diagnosed as hypotonic and needs PT, and 2- I see other kids her age and I'm a little sad for her that she can't keep up... I will stop worrying!
