I am a mother in Norway... Dont know if i fit most mainstream AP things, but i am atleast co-sleeping (not anymore, but will be again in a few days ) extended breastfeeding (DD refused to tandemnurse, when she saw DS getting bm, she was done, its "for the baby" she said, she was 17 months old), child lead weaning, intoo gentle dicipline... Main reason for doing this is because i am a muslim and i do believe this is what islam really teaches us!

I know there is some others in here, who you might know from other forums in Norwegian, if you are in any of them. The forum on BabyPrat is actually getting a lot better now, i think!

Oh yeah, you should definetly pack your bag, you will be giving birth this weekend!.

Some how it always seems to work out, though. Motherhood works in mysterious ways .

I have pack my bag. I did that like some weeks ago, to avoid double washing etc hehe... Just stuff the trousers and undies i need in the bag after washing, just in case

I can hardly wait. I am SO tired of being pregnant right now, and just wanna go there, give birth, relax a day or two, and go home. The good thing is, my ex skipped this weekend with the kids, so he will take them more in the christmas holliday rather. So me and hubby can cuddle at home with the new one. If she comes... :sigh:

Oh I remember the feeling. I bet you are a tired mama!
Should you get desperate recipe for natural induction follows....

Natural Induction

This is a recipe, instead of just hit and miss, this is the step by step that midwives suggest. I have never used it, I was never overdue. It is not medical advice, just a recipe that some people try first.

For use when artificial induction is going to be required, or for post-date pregnancy. This is the method that can be tried first, before resorting to artificial induction.

A full day is needed, as mama needs to start first thing in the morning.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the morning, after a relaxing breakfast, mama and daddy should make love together; making sure that semen is deposited high, at the cervix.
Mama should squat with every Braxton Hicks contraction, throughout the day.
At 12:00 – Noon, mama should have lots of fluids, and a good nutritious lunch of high protein and carbohydrates.
Just before 1:00pm, mama should cut 5 capsules of 500mg Evening Primrose Oil, then roll a tampon in the oil completely, and insert up at the cervix.
1:00pm, mama should lie down to take a nap.
When mama gets up from the nap, between 2:00 – 3:00pm, she should take a bath. Before getting in the tub, she can mix up a “Birth Cocktail”.
Recipe for Birth Cocktail – One Dose
2 ounces Orange Juice
2 ounces Castor Oil
2 ounces Vodka
This mixture should be shaken. (If they don’t want to add the vodka, they could omit it, but vodka is much less harmful than pitocin.)
Mama should first relax in the tub an hour, approximately.
At 4:00pm, mama should take the first dose of “Birth Cocktail”.
At 5:00pm, she would take another dose. Mama should drink lots of fluids. After this she would take out the tampon, and then eat supper.
She should continue squatting with contractions.
After supper, mama would begin taking Black and Blue Cohosh, 20 drops of each, every 30 minutes – 1 hour. Should be in labor shortly, if not already. (The cohoshes can be taken up to 6 hours, but probably won’t be necessary.)
This combination works fast and well if baby is ready! Mama should pay attention to her body
Oslo (Well Bærum technically) here.
I'm trying to keep things as natural as possible with him but it doesn't always work out. : I get frustrated sometimes with the bulk of natural products available in the States and how little seems to make it over here. Still, it's a wonderful country to be a kid in.
I'm from the states but married to a Norwegian. He is actually a dual-citizen (US/Norway) and we lived together over there for years before making the big move. We have lived here for almost 3 years now. Definitely keep me updated on any soft of gathering. I need a bigger social network. lol
Norway is not the easiest place to find your tribe and develop a network...especially coming from the states where it is more of an open culture.
I miss the states alot. I lived there for 18 years, and even though Norway is wonderful in many ways, I miss my friends the most.
I've been here over 3 years now. Husband and I intend to move back to the states in November, but the finances aren't working out as well as we hoped so we might be here a bit longer.
I heard Cohash has been linked to higher instance of meconium in the water?? I don't know I never took anything to induce labor (just stayed up all night cleaning the house when I was 1 week overdue, and labor started on its own). I don't recommend that course of action, though, as I was thoroughly exhausted after a few hours of labor (I had been awake for over 24 hours) which probably made the whole thing take a lot longer.
I dunno where Baerum is (my geography is terrible) I live in Moss right now. I'd love to get together too if all of us ever have the occassion
Moss hmm.... I'm up and around the fjord just outside Oslo on the west side. According to nsb.no it would take about an hour by train (station to station anyway). Not quite "meet you downtown for coffee tomorrow" distance but not undoable either.
The hubby and I are planning on eventually moving back but with his job going well here it might be a couple of years. Once #2 comes along the needs for more space and being near family are going to be a lot stronger and both of those are easier back stateside. Until then we talk often about the need to talk about our plan. lol
