My son is nearly 2 years old. Even as a baby consuming only breast milk he only pooped every other day...now eating solids and still nursing some he sometimes goes 5 days between bowel movements!! The first couple bm's he had were pretty hard and difficult to pass but since we've really amped up the fiber in his diet and made sure he gets lots of water, so his stool is now always soft.....even when he's held it in for days....

My GP says she's not worried as long as he's not actually impacted...but I can't see it being healthy to keep it in like that- plus he gets very grouchy and has trouble sleeping after a couple days and we're all miserable!

We resort to glycerin suppositories when it gets to day 4 or 5 but I hate to as it really upsets him. We feed him no white food at all except for the one slice of cheese thin crust pizza he gets every other week when I take his great- grandma to her favorite pizza place.

What do you think is going on here and what can we do?
